I'm pleased they missed out the all to easy target of the large SUV buyer.

Oh dear. I got my mid-life crisis car a bit early, either the Fiat at age 34 or the 370Z at 45. I also had the silver prestige vehicle in the shape of a 530d saloon at 43 although being more specific its prestige days were well behind it.

By the time I was 23 I had progressed well past the shoddy car and had the Legacy Turbo.
32 is almost right - I was smoking around in the 406 HDi then.
40 - definitely no people carrier here, but there is a very smart business motor in almost silver.

Nope, not really fitting that.
Age 23 - well past shoddy - was on my third car, a well-kept Tornado red Mk3 Golf GTI
Ages 32 - nothing remotely resembling a sensible silver business car - blue 135i coupe, black 156 GTA, black 500E and a green Z1 (yes at one point I owned all of those at the same time - those were the days)
Age 40 - nope definitely no people carrier - treated myself to the 440i for my 40th.
Thankfully still some way to go until the next milestone on their list!

Doesn't quite match me either, although some might argue with that at age 32. I didn't even have a shoddy car at 17, it was a 3 year old Astra and although it had done 90k miles, it was in great condition.
Age 23 - Not shoddy, brand new company car Age 32 - Passat Sport (Ferrari seats and I didn't hate it.....) Age 40 - Two kids but no people carrier, had the 520d at that point (but not for much longer)
A couple of years away from 51, but I do hope I've got something rather more 'sporty' by that point so might be a bit closer to the stereotype.

Age 23 - like Racing, a Golf mk3 Gti in tornado red Age 32 - I really went far with a Golf Gti mk5 edition 30. Company car but I didn’t hate it. Age 40 - Cayman so probably hit the mid life crisis a bit early, thank goodness I sold my Mk6 Golf Gti just before I turned 40 or this post would have had a mighty depressing theme.

It’s like the phrase…. ‘Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all’. But even though it included a very expensive divorce which took me back years financially, I much prefer ‘better to have loved, lost and upgraded’! That should apply to cars as well!

Age 23 - Clio 172 Cup and ST . I got the ST 4 months before I was 24 (I think!)
Age 32 - ST . I did debate a Yaris GR but the lead times would’ve meant I’d have been 33 when it was delivered anyway . Nothing sensible here, it’s my wife who got a RAV4 when she was 28, not me .
