No surprises to see more events being cancelled as countries hunker down whilst the Indian (sorry Delta) variant goes on the rampage. I present they'll look to replace it with another European circuit.
City and country naming in local languages annoys me when some numpties decide to politicise it unnecessarily. We can put up with Londres from the country that has been defeated by us more than any other in battle, the Hungarians still have Becs instead of Wien on their road signs and we call it Vienna and where the fuck are Cologne, Munich and Naples whilst we’re at it? I suppose there is a huge amount of insecurity from countries that don’t like their cities and names anglicised, because the names Slavs give to other European countries defy explanation (Nemetzko, from the Latin “nemesis” for Germany is a good example) but no one is complaining about it.
Later is now! Sooner or later, everybody gets it right Later is now! Sooner or later, everything comes to light
I think it's more of the fact that terming a variant of a deadly virus after a place of origin results in unsavoury behaviour (i.e. racism) towards people perceived to be coming from said locations.
Witness the anti-Asian hate in America of late, and actually there's been a shocking rise in anti-Indian sentiment around here since the latest outbreak from about a month ago of this new, more infectious variant. And Singapore is considered one of the most race-tolerant places in the world.
