My youngest has a new job located in Bristol ,office is near temple meads . I have no clue about it so could do with some help in guiding him on where to live . Plan is to flat share until he learns the city ,he wants somewhere where he can ideally walk to work ,and is not full of pensioners . He is currently looking at temple meads but I’d appreciate any pointers from people who have lived there .

My understanding from when my sister lived there for many years was that the Fishponds area is where a lot of younger people live, as in there's a lot of students. Quite near the city centre too and has all the usual amenities for a younger person including pubs and takeaways. Doesn't necessarily mean it's one of the nicer places to live but without knowing him or what he wants I cant offer any more.

Do a Google search of "good areas of Bristol to live in"
Temple Meads is in the top 5. I suspect that the newish developments around the "docks" in the city centre will be good too but depends on what your son is looking for in terms of amenities on the doorstep - pubs, supermarkets, gyms etc etc
Was half tempted to say "Bath, and get the train in every day"

My sister lived in Clifton for a while. She liked it and it has a young vibe.

One of the guys in my team moved to Clifton recently - he absolutely loves the area (he's a lot younger than me...) and couldn't be happier.
Not cheap mind....
I don't know Bristol well but see it as interesting, for sure - its in a good part of the country too...

.. .. .. I don't know Bristol well but see it as interesting, for sure - its in a good part of the country too... I'm the same. My mum came from Portishead and I had more than a few, rather intoxicated, nights out in Brizzle many years ago!

Clifton is probably the nicest part of the city to live, but it's about half an hour's walk from Temple Meads and uphill on the way home. Cotham and Redland are also good - they are the studenty bits. Still about 20-30 minutes from Temple Meads. There are some nice flats on and around the Floating Harbour (where the SS Great Britain is) at various budgets - about 10 minutes from Temple Meads and within walking distance of just about everything the city has to offer to a young gentleman.
I lived in Bristol for 3 years between the ages of 22 and 25, in four different rented places in Clifton. All of these were pretty good and fairly affordable back then. The best of these was a shared 2-bed top floor flat on West Mall. Really, really nice part of Clifton. I think it's still a really nice city to live in. I would love to have a flat on the Floating Harbour as a second home!
