The Kuga, now 13 years old, has sailed off to a new home - in typical 'can you help please dad?' fashion, I was the one who valeted it - three years of family life can be quite a challenge to remove - then when a potential buyer came to view it, it clashed with she and my son-in-law going for an anniversary meal, so I next question was, "can you sell it please dad?". Probably just as well - the buyer brought her dad who was an ex Audi mechanic and went over it with a fine tooth comb and picked up on all the marks I'd worked so hard to disguise and he probably would have got my daughter paying him to take it away! - anyway, out on my best salesman head and it's gone without a penny chipped off the price they'd agreed on Facebook. New car is a 2015 Fiat 500X - not what I would have chosen but it looks smart enough with some natty black trim and nice wheels and bought proper 21st Century style - ordered on line from a dealer 130 miles away who sent a video walkaround, paid for by smart phone and will be delivered next week with 7 days to send it back. Sounded like a good salesman too - I guess this is the way things will go post pandemic.

Well done on selling it without having to give a discount to idiots trying to quibble over a few marks on a 13 year old car.

Good result. I can just imagine two alpha males staring each other down over the 1p.....

Good result. I can just imagine two alpha males staring each other down over the 1p..... Just pointed out all the good bits for a 13 year old car - straight as a die, no rust, good hard wearing interior etc etc - then got him talking cars and he seemed to get distracted from the 'faults' with the Kuga. it's a mark of how things have moved on that car still has plenty of life left at 13 years old - co-incidentally the age at which her Jag and Mini were also sold - both apparently with loads of life left in them.

Out with the old, in with the new - the 500 arrived yesterday - I was called on to check it was OK before the driver left - all in excellent condition and a great job on valeting the interior. Pleasantly surprised too - a lot better quality interior than I was expecting and a very nice drive too - no Mini of course, but nicer than the Kuga, steers well and the deficit in horsepower is not really that noticeable - plenty fast enough for its intended purpose.

Our neighbour has a 500X. She traded her 500 Cabrio for it as she wanted something bigger. The 500X is a successful enlargement of the 500 franchise, rather different to the 500L....
