Turkey has been cancelled, to be replaced by a second race in Austria at the same track, so we will get a Styrian Grand Prix and an Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring for the second year in a row. The date of the French Grand Prix isd also being altered; more info with the dates here: www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.breaking-2021-f1-calendar-reshuffled-as-turkey-drops-off-and-extra-austria.3TufMtNBGTB4ALrfGaiN9e.htmlCovid travel restrictions are the reason - I do wonder if it is right that top-level sports still take place around the world with all the associated air travel between countries when most of us can't cross our own borders. We will miss Canada for the second year running; It's been well publicised that the track was built on the Isle Notre-Dame which is a man-made island - but I only discovered last week that the island was made from all the spoil when Montreal's underground transit system was built... that's a lot of earth removed from under the city !

It’s absolutely right top level sport should continue. Lockdown’s been shit enough without losing that as well.

Someone suggested on the Internet ( ) that the reason there are 23 races this year is because they expect some to be cancelled and so they will still have an adequate number of races to run a 'proper' season. As it stands I think Brazil, Japan and Singapore GPs are looking unlikely to happen.

Brazil is struggling to get Covid cases down so I can see that being canned if they cant get some level of control in time but it's a long way off. Japan and Singapore are doing ok but dont want Covid bought in from overseas. Hopefully as most teams are based in the UK they can be convinced that it's safe to proceed.

I think Singapore is on the UK "Green list" but am not sure we are allowed in. This year's F1 calendar could indeed turn out to be interesting, maybe they could use some of the other UK tracks... Donnington, Castle Coombe etc

We just entered back into a sort of semi-lockdown on Sunday, after quite a significant spike of cases over the past month or so. And quite a number of cases are of the more infectious Indian variant, so we're actually tethering on the edge here.
Even if we emerge from this 'lockdown' in June or so (quite unlikely judging from the current trajectory) it'll be too late by then to start preparations for a mass event like a Grand Prix.

I don't think those tracks are F1 compliant.
