After quite a wait the Kuga pHEV arrived last week. Lucid Red Vignale 2.5 plug-in. 225ps combined. More or less every option ticked so it has all sorts of stuff incl: Full LED quad projector headlamps Heads up display Opening panorama roof Front camera W cross traffic alert Blis Intelligent speed assist Active park Door guards Retractable tow bar Memory seats Heated f and r seats and steering wheel 19” wheels 10 speaker B&O stereo
Love it so far. Over 200 miles on just over a gallon so far, and it will go 35 miles on elec only. Suits relaxed driving and I haven’t pushed it - it definitely doesn’t feel like 225ps though. Very comfortable, very quiet, works perfectly just leaving it to sort out itself ref petrol and electric.

Has this got an interventionalist speed limiter on it?
I quite like the Vignale thing and I very much like that colour.

I had thought some Ford cars had a feature where by they wouldn't let you break the speed limit unless you override the system. It's a function that will soon be mandatory on all new cars.

Nothing that intrusive in this one

Additional car mat aside, that’s nice and a great spec.

Already gone! I found some St line ones online. I try to keep the ford ones fresh for when the car goes back. Not sure why.

Sure. Let’s run with that.
I think it is just a lot easier to return them looking clean with new mats. Hides the pasty crumbs.

The expertly cut grey ones have been through a few cars, but I thought the Vignale deserved a bit more love. It felt 98% trampy in what is a pretty expensive car.

Nice! I have to say I have a bit of an embarrassed crush on the new Puma, I don't like many SUV / semi SUV shapes but that one is great in the right spec... Just needs a Racing version!
On that note some sort of current Focus (RS or ST, I'm too old to care which) came past me when I was on the bike last night and sounded really good from outside the car, yet from the age I swear it must have been a 4-pot.... good effort...

That's not too bad. I know the Volvo PHEVs take about 3 hours to recharge.
Neat choice BTW

You can get a green Puma ST. Probably not the sort of green Racing would approve of.

^ Just checked and on the Ford website, it's named "Mean Green".
Have to say I was very disappointed by the Puma I had on loan when the Fiesta was serviced and MoT'd at the start of last month

Just needs a Racing version! What’s that, green with tan leather and a sunroof? Spot on. I was actually wondering whether a lightly used Fiesta Vignale might suit Mrs RT. They seem to depreciate nicely and look rather smart. My only concern is that they all seem to have what looks suspiciously like purple leather trim??

There was a purplish leather but I think most would be black. Coloured interiors not really our thing.
Did you see the queen’s Mulsanne on piston heads? Almost your spec, but a bit too beige inside. Dark green, wood, and no priv glass. Bit pricey though.

Additional car mat aside, that’s nice and a great spec. I'm also guilty of additional car mat syndrome - it keeps the decent mats clean! Looks crap, I appreciate, but practicality and all that.

Who are you keeping them clean for, the next owner? I’m enjoying my luxury deep pile mats, won’t be covering them up!

I’m enjoying my luxury deep pile mats, won’t be covering them up! I don't sink my toes into the pile! The driveway is currently part way between "started" and finished" and is just a compressed hardcore base currently, so the rubber mat on top of the carpet mats is worthwhile.
