Got me thinking in a thread the other day on insurance that I have a driving record that's embarrassingly clean:
Driving for 34 years 0 accidents 0 insurance claims 1 3 point speeding ticket (90mph on the m5 many years ago) 1 parking ticket
Who's got the cleanest record? Who has the dirtiest?

Hmmm.
One total loss accident claim (NSR 250 MC18) Two total loss theft claims (Fireblade and S1000RR) One radio theft claim ((E36 325) Rental car claims: deer collision (Skoda Fabia); malicious damage (Volvo XC40)
Accidents: that NSR - broken arm; R1 - the lorry on foot incident resulting in broken metatarsals; the deer collision - no injuries but girls mention it to this day; UJ seizure - shattered gearbox and centre console; smashed rear end - my dad’s Cavaliar. No injuries except pride at school. Finally my first ever accident which paved the way for all the others: parking my mum’s Dodge Omni in the garage and coming to a halt. Foot off brake, auto gearbox runs on and I crash into the chest freezer and push it into the drywall. Freezer had the outline of the bumper pressed into it and remained so until the move to Germany.
Points: Speeding, Cheyne Walk 1988; Speeding, A3 1990; contravening solid white line, Leatherhead, 1991 (so I had 9 points at that time); running red light, Wandsworth Bridge Roundabout, 2016. All incidents on motorcycles thereby confirming that those of us on two wheels are reckless morons.
I’ve had lots of Fines from the French Autoroute but no points and one parking fine in Sardinia that arrived months later.

Accidents: I think 8 Insurance claims: 8 4 x 3point speeding plus various others abroad - probably easier to say I've not had a speeding ticket in Africa or Asia. Countless parking tickets and recently a COVID compliance note stuck under my window from the police.

Two parking tickets, one where the front bumper was half an inch over the parking space line due the idiot behind being over a foot inside 'my' space. Going to the chemist to get a script filled for my mother the other, in a hospital car park where the appointment was two hours over but I still had to pay.
One write off (Bessy) after a bunch of wino's addicts dropped the garage roof onto the car and had a little party inside, smashing al the toggle switches etc. Bought her back for £20 and the rest is history.
One low speed impact after being distracted in a tight car park by a local loon. My first actual accident involving me hitting another vehicle in over 40 years.
While on bikes I had a drunken old fart in a Jag/Daimler push me off the road from behind which was entertaining ending up with me sitting in a 'Not a cabbage patch' with ruined brand new leathers. Hum? They did that alright.

Driving for 34 years 0 fault accidents/claims Been hit 3 times and 1 malicious damage claim (Alfa GT got walked across). 0 points yet. 2 parking tickets.
I can add in 1 cambelt failure resulting in an engine rebuild (covered by warranty thankfully).
I've also witnessed 2 fairly spectacular (and injury-free) write-offs happen right in front of me.

Driving for 30 years. 2 parking tickets- one in Dublin 25 years ago, and one in San Jose, 4 weeks ago- I moved the car back a space as it had been in the same one for the night, and then topped up the previous meter...
1 speeding ticket. 82 in a 70 in Alabama in 1999
Nothing eyes to report.

Driving for 31 years and for 25 of them I won't have done any less that 25k miles a year, with a few 35k+ years
1 x Accident that was my fault - Low speed in the snow (not as low speed as it should have been....) 2 x Non fault accidents - Both in my 520d. An old guy changed lanes and it the rear qtr when it was a couple of months old and a pickup hit the back of it when I was stationary behind someone waiting to turn right 0 x Insurance Claims 2 x 3 points speeding (plus 1 x speed awareness course) 1 x Speeding ticket in France, pulled over on the Autoroute, but I wasn't guilty (still had to give them cash) 2 x Parking Tickets 1 x Bus Lane fine
Too many times being lucky (along with good observation of course!) as in my 20's/early 30's I used to cruise at 90+ on the motorway all the time and did 30-35k miles a year.

During circa 25 years of driving 3 accidents - Best was when I barrel rolled a Fiat Cinq Sporting 2 x my fault accident, well really but the other was one of those irritating ones where I pulle dout of a blind junction, stopped when a car came round the corner and he didn't bother to stop or steer around me and would rather take my front bumper off. 1 x Speeding fine - SP50 for a rather too close to a ban 98.8 MPH on the M3 in a Vauxhall Vectra, Copper was sympathetic as in his words "Damn fast these aren't they, you don't know your doing the speed" It was a 2.0L to be fair Too many parking tickets as I hate paying for parking plus been towed in London twice 1 x Bus Lane

Driving since 1993 - 28 years.
Accidents:
Barrel rolled my Corsa SRi in 1994 while taking avoiding action on a narrow road. Fault claim and total loss.
Horsebox accident - hit almost head on by a Jewson lorry. Total loss, none fault and personal injury claim.
Reversed a hire car out of a space in Cala D'Or Mallorca and a van pulled up behind me as I was doing so. My fault and made a right mess of the van. Total cost to me was €50 for a tail light on the hire car as it was a right shed and had extensive damage prior to me picking it up.
Insurance claim:
Attempted theft of the above mentioned horsebox.
4 speeding offences - 2 of them cameras - one exceeding 40mph limit, the other exceeding 60mph limit and two traffic stops - one for 79 in a 60 and the other for 90 on the motorway which is the only one still current.
I think I've only ever had two parking tickets.

I have had a few moments:
3 points and a driving without due care and attention for hitting a cyclist in the pitch dark and rain on a narrow A road with a bus coming towards me so no wriggle room. The cyclist had no lights on and was on his bike because that was his mode of transport to get to and from the pub after he had been banned for drink driving.
3 insurance claims:
Forced off the road by a Sierra which came round the corner way too quickly and understeered on to my side of the road, forcing me into a tank slapper on the grass verge but the rear corner just caught a wall. Vandal damage down the side of my XR2 Damage to the back of my E46 Touring when someone parked on the other side of the road reversed out of a space and smacked it on the rear quarter.
Touch loads of wood, never caught speeding
3 parking tickets - two in Glasgow when meetings over-ran and one in Florida when I parked the car facing the wrong way after dark

Driving for 19 years. Two cars written off, neither of which were my fault. First was my first Polo that was rear ended and written 0off because it was worth fuck all. Second was my company Focus on the M23 which was hit by a driver from the other carriageway breaking through the central reservation. Have also had several other drivers hit my company cars when parked (and that's not because my parking's shit!). Only accident I've caused was when I backed my Civic into a parked car directly behind me due to tiredness and inattention about 12 years ago.
Only had one parking ticket because I was desperate for a piss and accidentally put my ticket on my dash upside down but amazingly Crewe council rescinded it.
Been pulled by the Police a couple of times in my student days but never charged - one dickhead in a panda car used the line "I had to do 40mph to catch you up". It quickly dawned on him that if he caught me up he must have been going faster than me so I wasnt speeding!
Only conviction was from a red light camera at Fosse Park in Leicester. I slowed down to try and locate the entrance to the Sainsbury's so I could get some lunch before hitting the M1 but just missed the light turning red. Letter said I'd been done by less than 1 second. Did a driver awareness course though so my record is technically clean.

Countless parking tickets and recently a COVID compliance note stuck under my window from the police. What on earth is a COVID compliance note? I've had a driving licence for 26yrs and a car for 24yrs. Had one major accident (the first Z1 about a decade ago now) and three minor ones over the years - last was seven years ago. As above. Three speeding fines - one in France circa 1999, one in Belgium circa 2004 and one in Russia circa 2008. Parking tickets? No idea - but not very many. The last one was on a rented Alfa in Milan about two years ago. Touch wood.

- Driving for 15 years as of this year (since 2006) - One at fault accident (some of you may remember) - Two no-fault accidents (very minor rear collisions with just small scratches) - Roughly about a dozen speeding tickets, all in press cars. I'll have to defend myself and insist that only one of which can I really class as 'speeding' (Mercedes AMG-GT). The rest were single digit over the limit infractions. That said, I've been clean for three years now. - Many, many parking tickets. Mostly for just exceeding the time. Because God knows they're efficient here in Singapore.

What on earth is a COVID compliance note?] Here in North Yorkshire, the local police force has developed something of a reputation for being a bunch of nazis. I parked my car 15 miles from my house to take the dogs for a walk. I returned to find a notice to say I’d be prosecuted if I didn’t stay local. I emailed them to ask what local is, given the previous tier geography was on local authorities and I hadn’t left mine, and I was refused and answer other than to say I’d be prosecuted if I broke the limit. I still have the notice, I’ll scan it.

That's just rude of them. I could understand them doing that, if they ran ANPR and discovered your car was registered in London. But 15 miles away, in the countryside, is no distance at all. Presumably they couldn't find any real offenders.

The COVID situation and attempts to enforce it have done so much for police-public relations......
Trouble is that the home office and various forces have implemented powers that are akin with those used by other countries’ forces forgetting that large elements of other countries’ forces are generally seen as a bunch of violent thugs that deserve no respect. Now ours have gone down that route there’s no hope for them: future recruits will be screened on how much of an arse they are capable of being as opposed to how they can become a member of their community.

I do think the police should have to salute the public when they’ve interacted with them as they do on the continent. Every copper I’ve suggested this to hates that idea which is why I’m convinced it’s a good move.

Driving since 1977 (44 years in August). At fault accidents - 2 (1978 and 1990), both where I rear ended somebody who stopped quickly. I probably drove too fast in them days. Disputed accident - 2. (1982 and 1991). In both cases I hit somebody turning out of a side road. See above re driving too fast comment...... No fault accidents - 4. Two times people rear ended me (1979 and 1983), a lady crashed into my parked V8 XF and a livestock lorry destroyed the front of the Shogun a few years ago. Various parking tickets and one bus lane fine (the bastards). But no speeding tickets or driving offences. Luck has been on my side. I was stopped a few times pre-cameras but managed to be sent on my way with a telling off.

Driving for 23 years. No points ever, but have had a section 59 in my 205 GTi.
2 fault accidents, both in cars not belonging to me. First was my Stepdad's Renault Espace that I ploughed into the back of a stationery Primera. Second was the customer car at work that I bifurcated with a lamp post.

If that's your current work it can't have been a cheap insurance claim although at least your company was paid by the insurers to build another car!

27 years driving, but nothing like the levels of detailed recall you lot seem to have. Or good fortune with the law.
I think I have been caught speeding 7 times, with points 3 times and 4 courses (offences well spread out). 1 smart motorway and I think all the others were of the 36 in a 30 variety. I would consider myself very careful with speed, but clearly that can’t be true.
Accident wise only one proper ‘crash’. I aqua-planned my Mk 1 Golf GTI into the rear 3/4 of a Toyota Avensis. I must have been 3rd party only as I decided against the repair bill and sold it to a Beetle specialist in London for about £300. The stereo was worth nearly that much. Really regret this one as I loved the car and it would have been less than £1000 - I think I decided I could afford a PCP on a Focus at £200 a month more easily than the lump sum.
2 cars stolen. My first car, a Montego Countryman td, was stolen and never recovered. My first company car, a 2004 Galaxy 130pd, was stolen and set on fire, but it went out and just burnt the seat. My wife’s MX5 was taken in the same robbery and totally torched.

Driving since 1977 (44 years in August). We passed our Tests at about the same time.... 19 September 1977 for me (just checked, I have an old paper licence and the pass date is printed on it). I've made contact with a few stationary objects over the years but touch wood, never another moving vehicle. Mum reversed into the parked and unoccupied Fiesta on her driveway in the V70 a few years back before she gave up driving, the only time I've had to take my car to a bodyshop since 1970-something.... ah no, just remembered the lady who reversed into me in the Scenic when she changed her mind about going into a car park, around 2001. 3 points for mildly exceeding a 30 limit in the last century, camera on centre of a roundabout catching out people who accelerated to join the flow of traffic; same camera caught a friend of a workmate twice in the same day in the same week as me... he got done on his motorbike on his way to work in the morning, then in his works van on his way back after work same afternoon

I'd consider theft of a Montego as them doing you a favour! It was replaced by an identical Montego (aside from the colour). In 1996 or 1997, and at 18 or 19, this was an amazing car. Clattery pace, massive boot, flip out boot seats if I had abducted any halflings. Sunroof, electric windows, I think it was a palace of greyish velour too.

My dad had a very old Austin A-40 which he hated due to its amazing (Lack of) reliability. He left it outside with the key in the ignition but the bastards kept bringing it back. On one occasion it had a full fuel tank too. He took it to a scrappy in the end but a few weeks later saw it being driven down Fulham palace road.

Been driving for 35 years, own car(s) for 31 years.
1 speeding offence - an SP30 in January 2017. I was driving to an interview and cutting it a bit fine on the time. I got flashed by a camera van doing 77 in a 60 (I was driving the M3 and overtaking a couple of cars in one go on a wide, straight A road) and paid the fixed penalty fine. On the positive side, I got the job and worked there as a contractor for 2 years.
1 Fault accident and consequent insurance claim when I was 21 and about 2 months after owning my first car. Low speed collision (5-10 mph) caused by my own inattention as I was talking to my brother who was in the front passenger seat. I rear-ended a Fiesta approaching some traffic lights. The Fiesta had zero damage but the front of my Fiat Uno crumpled rather a lot!
Other insurance claims - several. 2 or 3 break-ins to my cars when I lived in Bristol in the early 1990s, someone crashed into my Megane Coupe in 1998, 3 separate crashes into my silver Cayman including twice when it was parked, plus of course when it was stolen off my drive back in 2007, and finally when I hit a suicidal hen pheasant in 2013. That was the pheasant's fault rather than mine but it would have cost £2200 for Porsche to fix the car.
Parking tickets - none I think.

My dad had a brand new white Montego estate in 1990 and it was far from fault free. He chose the option of the sunroof which, for whatever reason, was a dealer fit option rather than factory fit. What this meant in practice was that the dealer had their technicians hack a hole in the roof which inevitably led to it not being particularly water tight and my Dad's head being dripped on every time it rained. He chopped it in after a year and the next time we saw it driving around locally it was covered in rust despite only being about 2 years old.
My Dad will slate the Montego to this day but reckons the Maestro he had before wasnt a bad car.
