Disaster! Blowers is to retire from Test Match Special commentary, which will rip a hole out of the soundtrack to my summer. Fortunately we still have the dear old thing until September this year.

My dad will be gutted. Cricket on LW radio was definitely soundtrack of my childhood.

Johnners and Arlott, probably the best pair of cricket commentators ever. I can remember when a kid, watching on TV but having the radio on for the sound just to hear the pair of them (plus CM-J)....
There must be a classic clip available somewhere on t'web of Arlott from the 70's "...and we have a streaker on the field, and it's not very shapely and mascuiline, and the police have caught hom and I think he's seen the last of his cricket for today" plus all the episodes with cakes that listeners had sent in to the commentary box......
