Mitsubishi UK is selling its heritage collection which features more registration plates than cars. The 80's Shogun has appeal as might the 2017 Mitsubishi L200 Desert Warrior to some members.

Are they preparing to withdraw from the UK? Seems a pretty desperate measure to take if not

I think that has been on the cards for quite a while now.

Are they preparing to withdraw from the UK? Seems a pretty desperate measure to take if not Mitsubishi are withdrawing from the UK market so I would assume that the UK importer (Colt Car Company) has been wound up and these assets are therefore being liquidated.

Tommi Makinnen for me. Odd choice of auction house to use, they're a new start concern as far as I know so not sure if they are best placed to achieve top dollar.

Might have been chosen by the administrators though. Could mean there's some bargains to be had. That Makkinen does look good. Correct colour too.

That does look good, and so does the Evo IX (to me anyway). Starion for me - fantastic looking thing. Always had a wee soft spot for these - running costs were even worse than Evo's though if memory serves. * * It probably doesn't - it's been a fraught day!

I wonder if staff got first pick, not a lot of cars in there.

'74 Galant for me. Pity there's no mk 3 which I always loved: I assume even the UK display car rotted away to buggery......

They are not being wound up as far as I know. They are remaining in place to sell what's left of the UK allocation and provide parts and after sales.
I'd have the Mk1 Shogun. My mum had two in the 80s. A D reg SWB and a F reg LWB which was stolen for a ram raid.

I preferred them when they were Colt Cars.

I'll take the Makkinen, the Later Evo, the Starion and the 2000 SWB Shogun thanks.

It'd be the 3000 GT for me plus one of the Shoguns.
If they'd invested as much in selling the cars as they clearly did in acquiring number plates, maybe they would still be a force in UK car sales?

I love the Station.
A car to put hair on your chest, launched at a time I was getting hair on my chest. No wonder I loved it.

Yep, were withdrawing fully from Europe, however they will now be remaining in some European countries, not the UK though.

😃 I'll just leave it for people's amusement. I was whiling away the time using a driving game on my PlayStarion, whilst waiting for my train to depart from Paddington Starion. I thought my driving was good enough to give Tommi Makinen a run for his money, but I now realise that I had ideas above my Starion.

Must be my inner pikey, but I fancy that L200 Desert Warrior....
Wonder if there's any truth in the rumour that the Starion was a mis-pronunciation due to the Japanese having difficulties with the letter L?

Wonder if there's any truth in the rumour that the Starion was a mis-pronunciation due to the Japanese having difficulties with the letter L? That was gone into, in some detail at the time. I recall a reader's letter in the mag from someone who studied and spoke Japanese who was convinced that by phoenetics and the sounds/collection of letters that the Japanese use, it should definitely have been "stallion"

I always used to think that but some random bloke on PH:
Urban myth I'm afraid, it's actually a portmanteau of Star and Orion.

I see the Evo 6 Makinnen went for over 100 grand in the end. Not surprising really. Easily my favourite of the Evo line and the Makinnen looks at it's best in red with the subtle rally decals.

£21k for the Starion - I like it but not that much
Interesting to look at the upcoming auction stock...
2015 Jaguar F-Type S V6 Auto - LOW RESERVE
This is a one owner car, with no previous keepers, having been well looked after and regularly serviced as part of the ‘Ian Taylor Motor Racing School’. This low 33,513-mile car has experienced professionally demonstrated use on track, and as a reflection of this, has a low reserve and will be ‘sold as seen’.
Hmmm.....
