That’s a completely inappropriate car. I love it.

I'm puzzled. Why build an off roader (I assume it has locking diffs and low range like a real off roader) and then give it massive wheels and yaw control? Who is going to be punting it around?
Also, I've never paid any attention to the new Defender until I saw this, but what the hell is that body coloured square smack bang in the middle of the glasshouse on the side all about? Did the designer slip and drag an extra square in? It makes no sense.
Then again, the whole car makes no sense to me.

Is there a certain irony in that the press photos of the 5-door are of a vehicle wearing a plate that starts RBS? Does this give a clue as to the target buyers?

I love it, but it will no doubt attract the 'wrong' types and suffer an image problem like the Benz AMG G63.

I love the trick they've done with the C pillar to give it that body coloured square. It's unique and will become a Defender trademark - probably literally if the Chinese continue to knock off LR styling cues. Thank god people are still building vehicles like this, it restores my faith in manufacturers.

It really shouldn't appeal, not at £100k anyway, but it does. I don't think I could walk past a new FFRR V8 AB for nearly the same money to buy one though.

Love it and I’d have one over a RR and RRS all day long

I expect to see quite a few of these all dressed in black growling their way past the office. It will after all give the average drug dealer a bit more pace and off road ability to avoid capture!
Liking these is one of those guilty pleasure things that we shouldn't be ashamed of.

It IS quite something and looks 'right'. Come a lottery win I might even get one, one variant or another.

I absolutely love it.
As I just said on the Defender thread (before I saw this one) that would definitely be "ice cold" on the Cool Wall if it was still going. As I can't afford a new one (sadly) as a second hand buy in a few years that will be one hell of a way to see out V8 ICE cars (while still towing a livestock trailer when required).

It does come with a towbar fitted as standard!

I think a certain group of people will buy this precisely because it's not a FFRR, with all the negative associations and image problems they perceive them to have.
