Well I fitted the new condensor and points, set the points and farting leading to nothing. All I now get is a click on turning the key. Griff suggested the points as a first point of call and obviously the click from the ignition means bugger all.
Oh well another go tomorrow. I had to push Bess today to a part of the parking area where I could align the rotor and points and with my guts complaiing couls only spend so much time bending over the engine. These new carbs and the contact beam make access even harder which I thought would take some doing but they managed it.
I shall fall back on my grandad's favourite saying oft repeated. "Joys of motoring, son".
I don't mind but I wish this spannering business did not hurt. the scraped knuckles is fine but the rest is an annoyance I could do without.
Oh well, good weather for it.

It will be something simple. Changing the points won't result in a click like that. I would suggest the battery is flat or you've knocked a loose connection somewhere.

You will have to be called Mr Engine, all I did was check connections and she was difficult to start (Cold) but she did and after warm up idles well. Driven up the local road and back and apart from a few flat spots she seems OK. Hasda be perhaps for a run and some fuel.

Liberal applications of WD40 always worked well for me.

I think I have to systematically replace all the spade connectors. I think this happened while working on the points and condensor.

Sorry, extra dose of thick today.
Griff has said he will do the annual service from here on, the local rip off specialists can park it where the sun don't irradiate.

The SPADE connectors are green though, or something like that.
