For a laugh/touch of depression I put the 320 through the WBAC online random humour generator last week and it said £5,850. That last for 5 days so now, on day 6, I've had an exciting email to tell me that for a limited time only the price has gone up. It's now £6,000.
I presume the reality is that the car will be valued, in person, at the same price no matter what the automated online thing thinks anyway? Not that the car is going anywhere WBAC anyway.

We had no problem or reductions in price when we sold my wife's B Class to WBAC but I hear regularly of price reductions when they see the car - they take £100 off per wheel refurb needed and then take more off if there are stonechips etc

I might give them a chance when the time comes then.

The person inspecting the car when you take it in gets a bonus based on how much they chip off the online valuation.

I helped a friend sell his car, but it was at the tricky£10k mark where most people want a dealership and the comfort that brings. Ended up selling to wbac and it's exactly as described above. More than three stone chips on a panel, that's £100 off. Scuff on the bumper, £100 off. Alloys with a touch of corrosion, £75 each..
They serve a purpose, but only if you really have to.

I despise WBAC but £100 for a chip might not be so bad depending on the chip.
I have a really nasty chip (actually so big it's a small dent) on the bonnet above the BMW badge where a stone hit it at speed on the motorway near Venice last summer. It was a sufficiently large stone, thrown up the tyre of a truck, that I actually saw it incoming, impact the bonnet (with a noise like a pistol shot) and fly up over the roof. Damn lucky it didn't hit the windscreen.
Not sure that can be repaired without re-spraying doing the whole bonnet, which anyway also has a couple of other large chips.

The 320 would've got hammered - all 4 wheels were a bit scruffy, 2 of the vanes on the offside grille were missing (buzzard stole them!) and there was rust on all 4 doors, tailgate and both front wings. There was also a new bulge in the nearside front tyre. John Clark offered £6k having inspected the car so it was a no-brainer.

I had a large dent on the aluminium bonnet of my Lexus (caused by a falling rocket the size of which NASA would be proud) and as it was above one of the strengthening members underneath, the body shop said it couldn’t be smart repaired and would require filling and full respray. A dent guy came out and removed it for £40. No matter how closely I inspected the bonnet I was never able to spot the damaged area again.

Hard to photo but: Actually it’s barely dented - less than I remembered.

That just need a bit of touch up paint - if you use a cocktail stick and some patience you can build up several thinner layers. Add some lacquer on top and about a week later use some elbow grease and polish and flatten it back down.

Or, if like me, doing that would look like a gibbon slapped your car with a paint soaked yard brush, call a smart repairer.

You should have a look at some of dent repair experts on youtube - what they can repair is amazing.
