That would be that you need it and they add the SYC tax.

Why is scaffolding so expensive ? How does Some shitty planks of wood and steel poles come to so much money ? No idea. I assume it needs to meet a lot of health and safety tickets. That said, given it costs so much, why do scaffolders leave so much of it when they leave a site? I’m still finding clasps and paraphernalia from when they did our rendering.

Why is scaffolding so expensive ? How does Some shitty planks of wood and steel poles come to so much money ? I worked for an international scaffolding company for 6 years, hiring the tube and couplings is cheap but if you want it put up then you’re paying labour and that’s not cheap. Health and safety has also increased exponentially, everything now has to be signed off and inspected regularly. When I was erecting scaffolding around Edinburgh and Glasgow in the late 80s we weren’t given hard hats and no one had safety harnesses or clipped on. Our only PPE was a pair of PVC gloves.

Often it's cheaper to hire a mobile scissor lift platform or cherry picker. A lot easier to use as well, with no setup time.
