Does anybody have a diagnostic reader that's any good? Just looking for recommendations as I think it's time I actually got one. Needs to be for all brands though and don't really fancy getting one that needs a subscription.

I have a generic bluetooth OBD reader that I bought off Ebay about 8 years back, combined with an app on my phone called OBD Doctor, which cost about 4.99 for the full version. It can read and remove EML codes, but anything over and above that (ABS, airbag, etc) it can't do. It has saved my bacon on many an occasion - it helped to diagnose the faulty swirl flaps on the Saab and the duff turbo on the BMW, not to mention countless service jobs I have done.
The app can live read most data from the ECU, such as boost pressure, MPG, road speed, injector pressures, etc.

Thanks
I was looking at something called iCarSoft that's about £250 for all makes. I have no idea if that's good value or not!

I have an Autel. It reads OBDII quite happily and resets codes and can give live data.

I think I used one of those a few years ago. I see they can be anywhere from £100 to £2,500!
