A childishly amusing question shamelessly stolen from another place but do you have the fastest car on your street?
Due to living in the sticks the competition is:- Late Mk1 Freelander Renault Captur Ford Focus 1.6D Toyota Auris 1.0 Mini Cooper Convertible Vauxhall Crossland (or something like it but definitely a Vauxhall).
I reckon that apart from the Micra all mine are faster and, having followed a couple of the neighbours for a short distance, without doubt they're all faster than the competition when driving style is taken into account....

No. The contenders for the top spot are a Lotus Europa but I’d guess that isn’t actually that quick. An Audi TT of some variety and a Jaguar XF 3.0. There used to be an RS6 but that appears to have been replaced by a fiesta.

Not even close, the clio 1.2 diesel is faster than Bessy.

Define fastest!
2 doors down in a garage there is a 991.2 GTS on Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tyres which only comes out when the sun shines. In a straight line yes but on a twisty B road, I doubt it even though the driver doesn't strike me as a 10 10ths kind of guy.

No, as one of my neighbours has a McLaren 650S Spyder (his wife has an S3 saloon) and the other has a V8 Mustang coupe.

Taking the XFR as the car to compete with, it would be close. Our farm vet, who lives about 1/2 mile away on the same road has a Subaru Forester STi (which has the same engine as the Imprezza WRX) as his weekend toy. It's that lovely Subaru rally blue with gold wheels. It's a Jap import as that Forester version was never available on the UK.

I think Mark, my next door neighbour may win this with his Skyline, featured here;
It’s like your windows are coming in when he backs it out the garage.

Definitely not ! (But it doesn't bother me).
There are some multi-cylinder BMW's down the road and a white van, which is probably the fastest......

^ When I say "multi-cylinder", I mean in excess of the "usual" 4

^ When I say "multi-cylinder", I mean in excess of the "usual" 4 You’re not the only one to do it but I just don’t get why multi means more than four for cylinders but more than one for anything else.

Ah, maybe because it's shorter to write "multi" rather than "more than 4"

Looking at them, I don't think that any of the BMWs that reside in my road are dogs

Until last week the only vaguely quick car on our street was a 987 Cayman S, but the owners have moved away. Now it's all baby SUVs and white goods hatches and estates, very boring. Fastest is probably a 3 series of some flavour a couple of doors down.

Top dog in our road is probably the C63 AMG which entertains my ears when it bubrbles past, but there is also a Caterham of some sort and an Evora. The slowest car, by some distance, is my Standard.

I was going to joke that surely the children’s toy cars would be slower but I think you were probably right with the standard. The slowest vehicle here is probably my non multi-cylindered-therefore-mono-cylindered lawn tractor.

There's a GTI clubsport up the road, and theres nothing else worth noting really so It's between me and him. I reckon I'd have him in a straight line at least.

Me, despite selling the TVR. The Mazda is reasonably rapid compared to my neighbours' vehicles in my part of the village.
The local farmer has a Bentley Continental GTC and his son has a SL AMG55. There is a guy with several Porches up the road including a GT3, I think.

Yes, I do.
The other cars in our street are:
2016 Evoque convertible 1999 Polo 2018 Polo 2017 Passat estate 2013 Honda CRV 2008 Golf 2005 Yaris
Not an exciting collection of cars.

There are a couple of interesting cars on the street but nothing too rapid. They range from a couple of old Golfs, Range Rovers, Honda jazz some bland German stuff, my neighbours just bought a new MX5 which is cool but the old boy a few doors down has an Austin healey and Sprite.

Our next door but one neighbour, Steve, was always the man for nice BMWs and changed them regularly, going from an M5, to a X5 M50d, to an X6 M50d, but I think the kids' school fees are starting to impact as he's been in a X3 M40i for a year at least now. Of those the M5 was the best, hands down.
Across the road they swopped their RR for a Velar, which I really like, and there's some young Newcastle footballers who have rented one of the houses and they have a selection of Mercedes CLAs (not first teamers then). Next door on the other side have a Merc GLE Coupe, which I'm not fond of but it is better than an X6 (not a high bar to clear).
Other than that it's the usual collection of Audi Avants, VW Tiguan and Passat, Audi A5, Golf Gti etc. A couple of Nissan Leafs further down. The old couple on the corner have a 2004 Volvo S40, which they bought new when they retired that year and it's immaculate for a 16 year old car.

Quickest car on my close is probably the Fiesta ST across the road.
