Thin end of the wedge.
Motoring, if it has a future, will be miserable.

Thin end of the wedge.
Motoring, if it has a future, will be miserable. It's not just motoring, it is every aspect of life: the Government and Local Authorities seem hellbent on bringing everyone down to the lowest common denominator. However I do have some sympathy with people complaining about anti-social behaviour - the problem for society is where do you draw the line that divides those who want some fun with those that consider the behaviour anti-social? Unfortunately the divide in many areas is split between those who are young and those who are less so. I certainly don't want young people to be curtailed too much otherwise the ideas and inspiration for the likes of the future Apples, Facebooks, Google etc may well be lost and living would be a much duller experience. I am sure we all had a lot of fun in our youth and twenties which raised an eyebrow or two of the older generation.

Unfortunately the government wants to take the fun out of all of our lives. We can't mix socially, can't drive cars into London or other cities without paying additional charges, can't retire as early as we used to etc etc

I still meet my mates on the golf course and in the clubhouse, ride my bike, walk the dog, and next week I’m playing Gullane. Can’t wait.

There's a very easy way to circumvent this. Virtually every supercar or powerful anycar has an active exhaust system nowadays and with these being electronically controlled, a simple software update will allow the driver to switch to quiet mode whenever they see a camera, if indeed the car doesn't already have such an option.
It will take literally days for the camera locations to becomw widely known and then they will just be expensive roadside ornaments.
It's a spectacular waste of time, money and effort to remove money from the pockets of people who have plenty to spare, as Simon said.

I played Western Gailes on Wednesday when there was a bit of wind! It's a lovely course but some of the fairways are so narrow and the rough is just lethal. Like Gullane it is a real test of golf and one I didn't rise to particularly well in the conditions. I have vouchers for Archerfield but they are valid to July next year so I think I will keep them to use in Spring next year.

Every Saturday recently at Tynemouth seems to have been blowing a gale so I feel I've trained for it. We're also "only" playing Gullane No.3, which is like Gullane but with training wheels on.

Then what is needed is some "simple" software programming.... if we already have cars that adjust the suspension based on GPS location and know road direction (stiffening for sharp bends etc), just need to add auto-programming of exhaust noise mode for known camera locations

Still a good test of your golf especially if the wind is blowing and the rough at Gullane and all the way down the East coast has never been as murderous as the stuff you get on the Ayrshire coast. Enjoy.
