Top Gear Mag's review called it " world class "
I think I need a lie down.

Hope it translates into customers. I worry Jaguar has an image problem.

I worry Jaguar has an image problem. White with black alloys isn't going to help. It's way too RRS.

Hope it translates into customers. I worry Jaguar has an image problem. I'll resist teasing you this once. I think it's a UK thing. In Italy at any rate, Jaguars are still seen as very sophisticated. I've mentioned that my wife's cousin bought a brand new XF 3.0d about 2-3yrs ago and it's extremely smart. Nothing remotely old-mannish about it. And more than once I've been asked in Italy why I have a German car and not something suavely British like a Jaguar. My wife likes them too - I looked at the 3.0 XE before buying my current car and it was only the then distinctly dreary interior, plus an unappetising combination of some ambitious pricing and iffy residuals that put me off. The car itself was handsome and a fine steer. If I needed a family estate, I'd certainly consider an XF estate - I just wish they'd give it a less humdrum engine selection.

The facelifted XF is available in BRG and Tan, both standard options (well, it's the normal £700 for metallic). The engine choice isn't good though, 4 cylinder only now.

I’d certainly fancy an XF estate in dark metallic green with a saddle brown leather interior. The dog would have to up his game to be seen in that as well.

Interior looks lovely. They do look smart in dark green / blue as well. Plus there are far fewer of them as Uber-Limos (if any!) compared to the BMWs and Mercs.
Desperately needs a hybrid option (talking of which I notice that BMW Germany is now offering the 520e, an even less powerful hybrid option and not really the 545e I'm expecting!)

^ that is lovely.
Edit: Don’t get me wrong, I love my 3 series Touring, it’s pretty much all the car I need at the moment but Jags just seem to have that certain X factor that lifts them above the run of the mill Germans.

My wife certainly thinks so. She's very keen that our next car not be even a dollied-up version of a Munich Cortina.

I agree, it is a UK thing, which I must say I find deeply depressing. We seem to like to denigrate our own - be it cars, people, technology, whatever. A Jaaagg is always going to be way cooler than a lot of other cars. People just don't realise it.

I...and I think the interior looks good. Not a fan of the black and white exterior but may help police forces realise the potential. Wouldn't that be something if the UK police forces (and other government departments) actually bought more built in the UK cars? You don't see the French police driving Skodas, BMW's and Audis (like West Mercia police seem to buy). Yesterday an unmarked Audi A6 went past me on the A5. I mean, WTAF? Let's support German workers and German jobs with our tax ££. What a great idea.....

Let's support those American workers and American jobs and German Treasury with our tax ££ Isn't there a home-grown equivalent they could use or is the Freelander not available with the same HUGE discounts as most German stuff?

That's the one Based on sitting in the LR dealership for a couple of hours while mine was being serviced, I wouldn't go anywhere near one. Everyone who came in with one for a service (5-6 people) had at least 2 issues that needed looking at. Trying to find a positive, at least they were issues that the owners had been able to wait for the service to have looked at.....

P400 would be more awesome. It would be, until you saw the monthlies, as that would be a depreciation disaster.

Sad, but in the current world what they need is a PHEV version for the company car market. I hope that the new boss has kicked all the product planners and engineers round the car park and told them to get on with things like that which will sell. I guess the P400e ought to fit (as it is the same base chassis in the XF as the F-Pace and Velar) but would also be way too expensive. And the 1.5 triple PHEV is designed for the transverse engined Evoque / Disco Sport / W Pace chassis. So I'm hoping that they are working on a PHEV for the XE / XF. Otherwise, good though the car undoubtedly is, business users won't choose one.

This is where Jag buggered up by not making an XE wagon. Plod could use them for Interceptors instead of the 330ds they favour.
We get quite a lot of Plod presence at work - ARVs regularly drive past on their way to and from the airport, so they pop in for a nosey. A couple of the guys in their fully armoured X5 said they use them because the 30d engine is pretty much unbreakable. You'd think they'd use the 35/40d or 50d models, but they like to break for fun apparently. I don't think the F Pace is established enough to have that legendary reliability yet.

I actually drove this recently and thought it was not bad? I dunno why it gets a bad rep. It's no 3 Series but it has its own charm.
