10 litres at £14.90 a litre. Doesn't make the servicing costs particularly low!!!
The X2 courtesy car also doesn't feel particularly special although it seems to pack a decent amount of space. I think i'd rather have a Mini.

That's the M tax, except it always applies to dealer servicing!

Yes, the M Tax isn't going to help. What's the total cost of the service and is it every 2 years / 20k miles like a normal BMW?
I don't know how much it was for the 750 because it was covered by the complementary service pack for all the time (well, mileage) I had it.

Yes I do, clearly. Even buying it yourself isn't cheap. I also get the highest spec 2-stroke for the bike.

This was just an oil and microfilter service which came in at £440 incl VAT. Oil was £149 and the microfilters were £119. Oil filter £26 and the rest labour. It needs a brake fluid service next year at about £300 apparently and two years from now it needs a major service which is listed at about £900 before they start looking to replace pads and discs etc etc.

Mine is on 12 month / 15k miles intervals and the minor/major services are just over £500/£800.

Gold plated oil? Please tell me that's just the name for it.

I agree with Simon that £14.90 per litre is positively good value compared to what some dealerships would charge.

I must admit that I only buy base oil 20w50, if I knew of a better oil for air cooled engines I would get it but not seen so far.

I always used to supply my own oil - its such an obvious rip off - but since the first XFR I told myself to just get over it.... it still irks me mind, as does paying a fiver for a few droplets of washer fluid when I’m sure it was pretty much full...

I used to manufacture screenwash in huge quantities, 50000 Litres plus. Standard stuff was literally isopropanol and water. We also made BMW screenwash, which had one other ingredient in that I can't remember, but was sold at a massively increased price. The winter stuff just has a greater percentage of IPA in it to prevent it freezing.
You're not getting anything special beyond a different perfume and colourant. Go to B+M and buy a 5 litre bottle for £2.50.

The prices dealerships charge for screenwash I always assumed they were using unicorn tears.
I popped into Halfords the other day and I'm sure I saw a sign saying they would top your screenwash up for nothing.

I use Miller because that's what the local factors has in, or I use Smith and Allen in Darlington. I think Shell make their oil and they are useful for EP90 which my local factors doesn't stock.
Screenwash. It really used to boil my piss when I topped off the screenwash prior to service to have a charge on the bill for screenwash. I use Comma Extreme. A 5 litre bottle will last a year or so and it works down to -30 when used neat. It's probably pure alcohol as Blarno mentioned.

Last couple of times the Legacy was at the dealers they tried that.Told them I wasn't paying it and they deducted it from the bill. Still cost a bloody arm & a leg mind!
