I am not one for adding bit to cars to try to make them better but I felt I had no choice with this one (and I know Martin won't be impressed) The front wheels of the M5 stick out a good bit from the body on the lower half of the car and I have been noticing small stone chips on the lower front wing and up the door. An internet search revealed that this is a common complaint with the M5 and the two choices are a vehicle wrap or the option I went for, these: They are carbon fibre and wafer thin but also nearly invisible with the wheel in front of them.

I’m not impressed with stone chips. They look fairly discreet, but typical BMW M driver sticking bits of aftermarket carbon trim to their car!

I just don't get the hatred of mud flaps / spats. To me they seem a sensible addition. Stone chips, mud along the car sides, less spray on wet roads for safety of people behind you. I've had them on pretty much every car I've ever had.

Nice bit of photography there, standing on 1 leg for effect

Having tested these over quite a few miles I can state with absolute certainty that they work. My car is massively less dirty with very little dirt thrown up the sides and I presume that will also mean a similar reduction in stone chips.
