The only car available at Enterprise and this is the one my coworker ended up getting. We’ve been in it all week. 3 of us, with bags, tools and a lot more. I like Fords but can’t like this, certainly for the purposes we had/have it, it’s not doing it. Suspension is too hard for Bay Area roads that are full of potholes. The short wheelbase and height of it mean that it feels like a roller coaster. The engine is not very powerful but does the job while drinking fuel at somewhere around 30mpg, based on the size of the tank and when we filled up.
Haven’t even wanted to drive it.

The thread title really does say just how dull it must be!

Is the US one the same as the one we get? I thought they didn't do small cars.

That's the same then. I only ever see them accelerating glacially up to their maximum speed of 45-50. I think they're favoured by the sort of people who would've had a small Rover with cushions on the parcel shelf back in the 80s.

I was wondering about these things the other day. Ford also has the Fiesta crossover thing, which is just another slightly jacked up Fiesta with black wheel arches, so why even bother with the Ecosport?

Isn't the EcoSport made in the far east so will likely cost peanuts to build and has a profit margin worth having unlike the Fiesta. I saw a new Kuga over the weekend that looks a lot like a Focus and you have to wonder why they bothered with that given there is a streetwised Focus estate.

^ Because the Kuga is a lot taller than the Focus and can be had with AWD whereas I believe that the Focus is just jacked-up, has a bodykit and remains FWD

Why make them look so similar then?

A lot of manufacturers pay homage to the Rover Streetwise with these jacked up hatchbacks and estates but they never seem to stay in production long as the demand rapidly dwindles.

European models were made in India until 2017 but since then they’ve been made in Romania.

I still don't understand the name. When you think of what a car with the name Eco Sport would look like, it isn't that! What sort of sport is it supposed to be involved in and is it really an 'eco' car? I know both words, especially the word sport, are generally far too overused throughout the automotive industry but this one really doesn't make any sense.
And why do people buy them, they're not even that cheap compared to any other manufacturers offerings which in most cases are vastly less shit

I'm eve less sure what an Echo-Sport is as a concept.
