One other PHEV benefit for me is that they're exempt from the Congestion Charge. If I use pre-booking for car parking for the few days I now go into London it will cost me less than a daily Oyster, even with £2 of car-charging overnight which is just insane! Are you sure? AIUI the charge is made up of 2 elements now, ULEZ and congestion. I thought that only fully electric vehicles were exempt from both charges and could enter the "C" zone without paying anything

From 25 October 2021, the cleaner vehicle discount will change so that only battery electric vehicles are eligible. Then from 25 December 2025, the cleaner vehicle discount will be discontinued. From this date, all vehicle owners, unless in receipt of another discount or exemption, will need to pay to enter the Congestion Charge zone during charging hours.

Even electric vehicles cause congestion.

12 months (it'll be more like 8 by the time it's delivered) will be enough to see the worst of COVID behind me. By December 2025 it will have been replaced (or I'll be dead - you can't tell at this age).

What is the beast worth now?? (he says idly, having just come into a small lump sum himself post house sale)... There’s a RHD face lift on AT for £39k. It’s laughably priced and is missing loads of spec the Gorilla has. On AutoScout24 there are 6 in the same model year as mine with the cheapest €35k, again with less spec. That sold this past week. The guy is on the forum and said he'd offer £36-37k. I think he's mental! It has so many spec items missing but he's paid what I paid 4.5 years ago for a 7 year old car where mine was 5 years old.

Back to the new 530e Touring: There was a 520i LCI Touring M Sport in the country club car park when I was at the gym today and that'll be a clear sale to me. The revised front end looks great and this was on the 845M 19" wheels that would be part of the M Sport plus package for 530e (which has the adaptive suspension) and they looked lovely.

Get one before the 4 series grill makes it's way to the 5.

^ Makes a lot of sense if the rest of the package suits, and it sounds like it does. I imagine it will have plenty of space and go like crap off a shovel if you need it to on the road to Italia.

That is a good looking car. I do think the facelift is successful, it tightens up what was a bit of a podgy design.
