The only person I know who was adventurous enough to buy a Maserati, bought a 2 year old Quattroporte. Unfortunately before its 3rd birthday, it needed significant welding repairs to the front end to stop the engine from falling out and the suspension from collapsing. He kept it another couple of years before a £3K servicing bill tipped him over the edge.

No prices yet, agree that they won't be cheap. The Ghibli does appeal a lot, which is strange.... as I doubt it will be as good as an M5, the interior is really dated and it's too powerful for RWD (my preference) but I still really like it.

One of my wife's cousins in Italy has a Ghibli diesel and a doctor friend of ours has a Ghibli S, both the same shade of dark electric blue. To my knowledge they are both perfectly happy with them. The diesel one has over 120k kms on the clock.

They're a welcome addition to the car landscape but I'm unlikely to see many on the roads. You'd think they would be quicker as well. Near 600bhp and "only" 4.3 to 60, which might tell us more about the traction issues with putting that power through a shonky chassis.
As an aside I find it very depressing looking at the current Quattroporte given how amazing the old one looked and still looks. I still get the odd moment where I look at 10 year old Quattroportes seriously on Autotrader.

Its been his company car over the last 4 years and as far as I know has been faultless

A friend of mine is a time served Italian car mechanic, working with Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati. His response to anyone wanting to buy a Maserati?
"Go and stand on top of a windy hill throwing £20 notes into the air"

I really didn't like the facelifted Quattroporte, but now that I see it and the Ghibli compared to the German opposition, I think both are way, way more attractive than a lot else in their segments.
