Specifically airbag ones.
The Micra - a 2018 car - is in today for a new airbag. The 2002 E46 we had a few years ago also had an airbag recall and the M5 (a 2001 car) is also due to go in.
The recall in each case is allegedly due to the airbag manufacturer rather than the car make and in each case it is Takata.
It's worrying that they clearly hadn't sorted them selves out in the 17 years between production of all these cars, especially since the 320 was recalled in about 2015, i.e. 3 years before the Micra was built.
Anyone else had recalls like this?

Anyone else had recalls like this? I am pleased to say no! However that is very worrying when it is something that explodes into your face - it should have taken much less time than 17 years and legislation should have prohibited the use of cheap materials. There is little point in a device which potentially takes someone's life when its job is to protect.

BMW call them 'quality enhancements'......., but the only one I've been asked to take the car in for was a software update.

I'm not sure whether it's material quality or poor design to be honest.
I certainly wouldn't call it a 'quality enhancement' though! I wasn't impressed that BMW didn't wash the 320 when it was in. Fair enough it was an old 3 series but it was mid-winter, the car was filthy and they don't know if I'm poor or a potential future customer.

The Takata recall is old news, there are so many millions of their airbags involved that the full recall across multiple manufacturers will take years to accomplish.
I've never been affected by an airbag recall but the Honda, preceding Citroen, both Renaults have all been affected by recalls. I lost count of how many times the Scenic was recalled... including the first time before I'd even collected it (the day before I was due to collect it) delaying delivery by some weeks as a new driveshaft was required and they were in very short supply.

I understand that Chris but my 2018 Micra has been recalled so whatever they were doing wrong lasted for at least 17 years!
Anyway I've had the call and the Micra is ready. It'll be interesting to see it clean........

There is some 10 year rule for ze Chermans. Which probably goes some way to explaining VW's 'largesse' in paying for new MkV Golf front wings!

The Volvo went back for something not long after I got it. I think it was something to do with the fuel tank sensor being faulty such that it would refuse to start as it thought it was empty. The Compact went back for something too but I can’t remember what.

My first Lexus IS250 had a recall for a seat belt issue. They valeted it, half filled the tank, and left a bottle of champagne in it with a note of apology.

I don’t think any of the 20+ cars I’ve owned has ever been called in for a recall while I’ve had it.

I think a Corsa had an airbag recall and my Volvo had a demister recall. Other than that, nothing.
My dad's Explorer had several, one of which was for a set of new tyres after the Firestone case in the USA.

I've just run the MOT check to find out when mine is due and noticed that there's also a function to check if your car is subject to recalls on there: www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/
