Picked up the I-Pace yesterday afternoon in a monsoon so I only have a couple of photos. The tyres are 50 profile (something I haven't seen for about 20 years) on 20" rims but it makes the car ride so well - it's seriously good whilst at the same time not feeling as though it is going to give up grip or roll massively. The hand over from Taggarts was suitably useless with no-one knowing we were coming despite it being arranged. The car wasn't ready and we had to hang about for an hour or so whilst they got it prepped and anti-bacterially fumigated but the last 10 minutes or so we got some attention and it ended not as badly as it started. Our time twiddling thumbs wasn't perhaps great because there was a guy on a table behind us getting into meltdown because his (in warranty) car had suffered a turbo failure and it sounded as though they thought there was more damage -he coped with that but not the fact that no-one could authorise a replacement car whilst his was in the workshop for several weeks. The call to Jaguar to authorise a replacement vehicle needed to be signed off by a manager but there were none available and they would call back within 2 hours! One thing we found out is that there is a card you can get for £20 a year which is subsidised/sponsored by the Scottish Government and gives free charging all over the country, albeit not at superfast speeds. Anyway, here is the car and i'll try to get some more photos when the weather improves.

Looks good. It will be interesting to hear how the ownership experience develops over the next few weeks and months.

Add me to the list of people interested in how you get on with it, especially the true range when driving it properly rather and how you get on with charging away from home. Whilst I don't like black cars, it does suit it as do the 20" wheels, as they look terrible on 18s.
Yes, 50 profile is fairly rare and makes much more sense on that type of car, as it would have done on the X4, but the tyres aren't super wide compared to what's normally on cars with 20"+ wheels so the sidewall difference won't be huge. Just looked at the sidewall depth out of interest and it 0.5" more than the 40 profile tyres on mine and 0.1" less than it would be on the standard 21" wheels with 45 profile. It's 0.9" more than the M5.
I hope Mrs C is happy with it.

Looks good in black and the wheels right - not too large, not too small. Add me too to the list of people wanting to know how you get on with it.

I feel I am carrying out some kind of social experiment but I will let you all know!
The plates will change as soon as we get the private plate off the X4.

Car looks great, piss poor service less so ( Jaguar did quite well in the recent autoexpress driver power deal survey).
Did you go for a 7kw/h wall box ?

We are in the process of arranging the 7kw/h box - it started about a month ago but due to the grant paperwork nothing can start until grant approval is given (and I think they are all on holiday/furlough). We will hopefully get it installed in the next 2 to 3 weeks but there is a free charger down at the local supermarket which is faster than 7kw/h so we can take it down there, park it up and come back for it in a couple of hours if necessary. I don't know if it was because the car is leased that Taggart's couldn't really be bothered but communication was non existent until I started to noise the lease people up on a daily basis and they then contacted Taggarts and told them to get on with it.

Well worst case using the 3 pin plug overnight should put up to 33% in (12 hour charge).
Which I guess gives some level of daily usability without having to use a public charger.
Out of interest, what was the charge % when you picked it up ?

Terrible service. My guess is its the dealer rather than the type of purchase, as they should have standard (covid adjusted) handover and there's no excuse for not knowing you were coming when it had been arranged.
Do you have other options if/when you need a dealer?

Do you have other options if/when you need a dealer? Not really i'm afraid. Taggart's reputation was nearly enough to put me off getting the I-Pace and it would have done if I could have had an e-Tron for similar money but then the Audi dealer is also a Lookers owned franchise so that might have been out of the frying pan and into the fire. A good honest dealership is worth such a lot when you are buying an expensive car but seldom do they deliver.

More importantly, well done on sculpting your bushes into a large green arse. Top topiary.

Still, all seems to have turned out fine so far, fingers crossed it remains thus.
Liking the look of that a lot, even the odd-sized profile. Is it as rare as the 45-sized profile the Legacy wore? Hope your wife enjoys it John.

We have 2 groups of 3 bushes and at the beginning of the year when I first cut them I threatened to cut 2 of them down into much smaller round balls and to leave the middle one tall whilst taking a bit off its width - I wasn't allowed so an arse seemed appropriate!

The tyres are 245/50x20 Goodyear Eagles and a quick Google suggests I would have the choice of 3 or 4 tyres if they need replaced, so not as rare as the Legacy's tyres I am pleased to say. Susan tells me that the tyres are all inflated above the recommended pressure and every wheel is at a different pressure so that's a job for the weekend.

What is it about main dealers and tyre pressures? Why can't they get a basic safety issue sorted correctly? I wonder how many people who take delivery of a new car check the tyre pressures within the first few days of ownership?

The last few cars we've had have been set right as far as I remember.

That is poor service. I'm sure Taggarts used to be well thought of years ago but were presumably still family owned at that time.
I dropped the Micra off at the Dundee Nissan dealer this morning (Barnetts) and was told that the car will be returned having been thoroughly cleaned inside and out and all areas touched, including the key, will have been sanitised.
That's the 3rd time they've told me - 1st when I booked it in and again yesterday when they phoned to check I was still bringing it in. I think that's decent service considering its in for an airbag recall.

Are there any decent dealers in Scotland?! It seems all doom and gloom with Arnold Shark, Taggarts and Lookers.
Car looks good, I hope you enjoy it.

My local Skoda dealer are pretty good, but they don't have much in the way of courtesy cars at e.g. sevice time etc, so it's a bit of a lottery that way. So much so, I use the indy round the corner in preference, even though he doesn't have any! Good excuse to take a buckshee day off every now and again.
It does look good, indeed.

Harry Fairbairns (part of the Arnold Clark Group) used to be good until they replaced the manager with a guy from the "shaft the customer" brigade. I think there is too much adherence to the targets from head office at the expense of good customer care. Unfortunately those that tend to come to the top in such an environment are those that care little for the customer in any case and they only care about their bonus.
