.... in Ford Deep Impact Blue. Don't much care for the wheels, but the front bumper is possibly the best looking in the range so far

I dint like the wheels either and that won’t be the finished front end, as it’s got some tacked on pieces. The picture I posted of the Tiguan R will probably be closer to the production version.

I find that deeply unexciting.
I expect lots of fartshift and plenty of cameos on Traffic Cops or Police Interceptors, being hooned through Leeds.

Or the signature colour for the MK7 Golf R and all the other R models since..... ...since the mk7 Golf R? The R32 was most popular in Deep Blue Pearl, but I wouldn't have said that Rising Blue was especially popular on the mk6, let alone a signature colour. Red, silver and grey were equally popular. The name and shade changes with every model, too and I doubt this one will be called Lapis. Pluuusssss, wasn't the Ford paint originally called Racing Blue? Anyhoo, back to this one. The spoiler is naff and far too shouty and no front bumper is going to save this model from those hideous headlights.

I still really like the mk6 and looking at some pics reminded of that. I wonder what the chances of finding a decently low mileage unmolested one would be? They've probably all been remapped by now! Google images of 'rising blue mk6 golf r' and most of the pics are of modded cars.

I think Ford's Racing Blue was/is reserved for things like the Fiesta ST, and it's different from Deep Impact Blue which is available (or was) on most of their vehicles

Goes back to the first Foetus RS. It was also available on Audis, too. Audi call this one of their Exclusive finishes, but apparently it has the same code as the Ford colour!

It was Imperial Blue on the Mk1 RS (and the Fiesta Zetec-S)

That's the one! I think Audi's 'Racing Blue Mica' (as in the pic) is the same colour as that or the blue used on the mk2 FRS. Summat like that anyway!!

The proportions of that Golf are all over the place. Not at all keen.

The Golf's wheels are pretty hideous and there's a lot of visual weight behind the rear wheels which I'm not keen on. Otherwise it's probably pretty much as expected.

In the right colour the current one is spot on. Sporty enough without over doing it

Until that massive gob is finally unveiled and it makes the 4 series look a whole lot better than everyone first thought!

Spot on Andy! A Mk7 (or is it 7.5 Martin?) Golf R is on my list of potential next cars. We've got a 7.5, which was launched in early 2017. The easiest way to tell them apart, especially as there are both MK7 and 7.5 cars on 17 plates, is the digital dials. I prefer the look of the facelift car, it gets an improved gearbox, a bit more power, nicer standard seat material (leather looks better as well) and improved infotainment. If you go newer (late 18 onwards), then it will have a DPF which drops the power back down, but depending on when it was built, it could have voodoo headlights, keyless entry/start and a reversing camera which were all made standard shortly after production started up again. Whether you look at the 7 or 7.5, I'd definitely only looks at ones with DCC and Dynaudio, the panoramic roof is nice but apparently they rattle and are difficult to get right. A manual is an option, but the clutches don't last that long

Thanks, I knew your anorak would come in handy I still ideally want something with more cylinders but one in the colour of yours with the same wheels is a handsome car (can't believe I'm saying something nice about a Golf!).

Always happy to help! If you hang on about a year you could have one that is in the same colour with the same wheels as mine and you'll know that its been well looked after!

At least I know it wouldnt've been thrashed by some 25 year old who got it on a PCP, rather a 40 something (plus Lindsay)! One of our friends - a 61 year old GP - has one in Martin spec but last time I spoke to him it had done 1,500 miles in total. I doubt he's thrashed that at all.

Such low mileage can't be all that good for it and ours has got better as the mileage has increased.

I quite like the new Golf, as long as the final bumper comes with those angled slats - without them I think it will look very bland. However what's not to like about a Golf R. One of my clients who had a Cayman S, Cayman GTS, GT4 and now a 991.2 Carrera S in that order, has had three Golf R's as his second car throughout the same period and he reckons he can drive it faster than the Porsches on the tighter A and B roads around where he lives.

Not much if you've actually driven one.....but ETTO. Back to the MK8, it looks like the angled slats will only come about half way up that section of the grille, as there's a black support in the pictures (inside my squircle)
