the gt3.
Honestly there are not enough superlatives to say about these cars.I have spent the last few days thinking that normally after 2 years I want to try something different but there is literally no car I would swap this for.I keep looking at Mclarens but turbo lag and truly horrific running costs and reliability issues ruin them as a proposition for me.Ferrari's are just too wide and fast but I do think I should actually own one one day. The forthcoming gt3 has an appeal but I really don't like the interior ,too 'touchscreeny' for me,the 991 model has for me the perfect balance of buttons and touch screen.
The cars were delivered with a fault on the tracking system ,and it took Porsche over 6 months to come up with as solution.Apart from that the car has been in twice for rattles caused by loose fitting trim, which isn't really what you expect but due to the lack of sound insulation you do tend to hear everything and probably wouldn't be so noticeable in a car with regular sound insulation.Fortunately on the second visit they picked that a plastic unit that sits over the rear brake and directs air onto them had gone missing.
I am still awaiting it to be sorted as when I went for the refit it was a day or so before lockdown and the part that the factory sent had arrived damaged. It isn't anything major and doesn't affect the car on the road,it is more for heavy track use, talking of which I literally had 2 days booked in march, the bloody week they announced the lockdown.
MPG is 17.5 overall which is a fair bit better than every other 500 + bhp car I have had (the Aston,m6 and lambo were all around 11-12mpg) ,and in two years the total cost has been £1000 for the service. The tyres have worn well and still have a good 12-24 months worth of use in them.
Obviously it is nice not to be losing 20-30k a year compared to how similar cars depreciate, although the days of premiums are gone.
I wouldn't really think any differently about the car if it did lose fortunes though,it is just so exciting to drive ,the engine is just spectacular and must be surely one of the greatest engines ever made ? Only the lambo/audi v10 and ferrari v12 offer any competition to it in terms of new cars for sale.
If you ever get the opportunity to own one of these things do not hesitate.

I'd love one. I think if I had a GT3 I'd want for nothing else, well apart from a Singer to sit alongside it.
I've been looking at 997.1 GT3s a lot recently. Still a dream in the current climate but a goal I'd like to set myself to working towards in the next year or so if we ever get out of this mess.
Have you ever driven Mclaren 570S? They just look amazing value when you compare them to the GT3.

It's no surprise that you're enjoying it. How many miles have you put on it?

Looked great when you bought it to Prescott. When you talk about comparing it to the Lambo V10 / Ferrari's . would love to hear more detail on that when it comes to comparing pace, sound etc Can't imagine the McLaren's engine comes close in terms of excitement?

Glad you like it so much, I would consider a 911 should the lotto come my way but not one of the higher rated models. I can drive but my experience would not be sufficient. A base 911 would have me over the moon with a 912 next to it and Bessy in the garage.

It's no surprise that you're enjoying it. How many miles have you put on it? 8000 ,would be more but I’ve had 2 upper body ops the last year which cost me around 3 months of driving

Not driven one yet .Used they are good value but a gt3 depreciates slowly ,the Mclaren depreciates almost as quick as it accelerates and running costs are astronomical ,servicing seems to be around 3k per year and a warranty on a car older than 3 years is 3.5k/year,and there are big questions over the build quality ,reliability and service from dealers (a few people on ph had cars go in for an issue and not see the car for 6 months )

I haven’t driven a Ferrari since the 430 so can’t say ,the lambo is similar in many ways ,the lambo revs to 8500 and explodes in the last 1000 ,the gt3 revs to 9k and the last 1000 is just mental .Both sound amazing but the lambo was a spyder so I got to hear more of the engine . Power is similar but the pdk gives the gt3 a big edge acceleration wise ,you tend to change early with a manual to avoid banging into the redline . I think the gallardos tested at 8 seconds to 100 with paddles and the gt3 is around 7 seconds so pretty similar .

3 years old now and good job I extended the warranty ,out for a drive and apparently my PADM has failed (Porsche Active Dynamic mounts) although it says I am ok to drive with them not working.
Aside from that the engine is now so loosened up I swear it feels like another 50bhp has been unleashed, and the ps4s are very nice ,much better all round road tyre than the cup 2s.
I can only have one complaint and that is the car makes you want to drive at 200mph everywhere .

Nice, glad you are enjoying it. The GT3 - any GT3 - is pretty much a perfect "toy" car isn't it, I know it annoys people but they clearly do very well on reviews for a reason.... I love the likes of Ferrari, but if I was able to afford this sort of thing, I'd have the GT3 as I'd want to actually drive it! And on track too, and on long trips without it expiring...

[br I think the longest I’ve kept a toy car is 2 years ,so 3 years for me says a lot about the car.
