Good news for JLR, apart from the Discovery, Defender and iPace being made overseas.

Is this a negotiating position? I would have thought that the eu would feel some pressure from German manufacturers to get back round the negotiation table.

I think the whole tariff announcement was a negotiating position.

UK buyers will just pay the 10% increase and the manufacturer will fund some element to maintain output levels (it's expensive to stop and start production lines which is why unsold cars build up in fields).
How are they measuring this tax? Some parts of cars assembled in the EU are made in the UK - is there a break for that component of the overall price?

Why not? Think of the happier times when all we had to argue about was the colour of our passport.

Will it affect the Germans that much? They already offer huge discounts on BMWs, Mercedes etc. so does this just mean we'll all get a bit less of a discount? Maybe this will reduce depreciation and firm up used values?
A cynic might say this is a ploy to get people to buy new cars before a potential price rise and kick start the market, before coming to a deal with the EU so that tariffs are not imposed or are a nominal 2-3% or something?

Don’t think it matters to the Germans does it? As long as they can sell a 118i for £299 a month the price is irrelevant.
