Never liked their stuff, and don't feel any differently. I'm hoping in the longer run that electrified sporting cars will get lighter and have sensible power outputs. Stupid name, too.

It is the engine that is the cleverest bit: it is the first production engine without camshafts. The valves are opened and closed by a computer controlled actuator which makes the engine massively more responsive, economical and powerful whilst reducing emissions. Some have suggested that when the politicians get their heads out of their arses they might realise that this would allow the ICE to continue long into the future.
The beauty of the valve actuation is that at low speeds the valves can open a small amount for a shorter duration to increase torque and at high revs they can be opened further and for longer duration for the most efficient burn. The new method provides the best of all camshaft profiles at any point in time which is impossible with a conventional camshaft set up even when equipped with the likes of BMW's VANOS variable valve timing.

Would we really want logic to clog up processing time in the overtaxed minds of our bleaders?

Throw the electric motor & battery gubbins away and stick the clever heads on their V* and I'll be interested.

They do some groundbreaking stuff. The Regera with its single speed transmission is an interesting bit of kit, too.

Haven't racing engines done the no-camshaft thing for some time? Odd it has taken so long to filter down...
