We had this on the old place so I thought I'd resurrect it and share this: Google Earthview is a library of beautiful pictures taken from Google earth. They can be downloaded and they're quite lovely.

Our Google Home thingy shows some lovely pics, as will a Chromecast if you leave it in screensaver mode. I expect they're the same photos.

What's with the different colour of all the dots? Locations of the pictures. You click on them.

Saw this in a book earlier this week. Any guesses?

It's a still from a high speed video if a nuclear test in 1952.
When you know what it is, I think it looks fucking creepy...

Just before I went out on my gloopy dog walk yesterday (see Rants) there was a vicious hailstorm. When we got to the woods there were some stones left that hadn't melted because of the shade of the trees...

Super photos and, yes, it is a lovely area.
I spent much of 1988 as an Agri student on the Rendlesham Estate and have fond memories of the place.

Proper Big Sky there, by the looks of things.

I learnt to ride in Rendlesham Forest and it's also the UK's answer to Roswell. Mum lives in Snape these days, having downsized to one of those modern Hopkins homes.

Lovely. I know we love to repeat place names in Britain, but there's a Boyton in Wiltshire between Warminster and Salisbury.

This was a harder to take than expected photo. With only a phone camera to hand the seed head and flower have to be in close proximity or else the fixed aperture creates bokeh effects. It's also quite rare to see them together as such anyway, then you have to have had no wind or rain so the seeds are all still attached and aren't swaying about.

Great pics. Can't remember the last time I saw a starling.

There were/are a pair of them and they typically sit atop my neighbours tree (where that pic was taken).
Noisy buggers!

What are the black dots in the sky behind it? More starlings or insects?

Insects!
Have a few pics taken a minute or so apart and only spotted them on the later pics - you couldnt see them with the naked eye really - it's a pretty tall tree it was sat on!

I will learn to read one day, perhaps. I blame brain fade on the reduction in demand lately.

I’m assuming that’s a proper camera and not a phone?
