I hope nobody here is badly affected. Lots of flooding around North Yorkshire. a few cars have been caught out but there does seem to be a theme ... £60 a day from Sixt aren’t they?

Yes, Lindsey mentioned a Maserati stuck in floodwater.

A pretty basic error even if you do not know the vehicle, never enter water unless you KNOW the car can ford it.

Those are two different Maseratis?! Wet and windy in London with lots of twigs and small tree-related detritus littering the roads, along with a few bin lids, but that’s about it.

Missus is stuck in a Geneva, all flights to the uk were cancelled today.
Not much rain here in the midlands, even the wind didn’t seem that windy

Last night was a bit freaky as far as the wind went and today while reduced was still quite blustery. I doubt the ground can take much more water.

Brother in law had a tree outside his flat in Hull come down. Narrowly missed his car but landed on the van parked next to it which is now unlikely to be much use to its owner come Monday morning.
Been pretty blustery here with a few trees and fence panels coming down around the village. Hopefully the wind is now dying down and the trainline to London wont be blocked tomorrow morning.

I didn't realise the first car was a Maserati, I thought it was one of those high-rise Merc A Classes.
We had a lot of wind and when we returned home yesterday the kiddies slide (that we were planning on removing anyway) had been snapped off its mounting and was lying in front of the cars.

The wind made a noise round the chimney stack. That was the extent of it for us.
Family friend was due to drop her ex off at the airport for a flight to NYC (he'd been over to see his kids) and then wait to collect his replacement who was flying in from Geneva (I used to think my family make up was convoluted: this woman makes an episode of Eastenders look like normal family life!). NYC guy got away; new guy didn't make it.

Friend down South lost his shed and a ridge tile. The later made a soft landing through the rear window of his A7. He's not happy.

We have some ivy in the back garden that got pulled off the wall. Along with a couple of bricks.
I popped out yesterday for some provisions and the car was being blown all over the road. It was like a slow motion tank slapper having to constantly correct the steering. Then on the way back there was torrential rain that only lasted for the 10 minute journey.

Years ago my parents neighbours had a tree fall on their then new Discovery 2 in a storm. It was replaced (with another Discovery 2) and the following year another tree fell on that. I seem to remember being told the first trees roots would have compromised the earth of the other trees to such an extent they had to be pulled down.

Having had 2 degrees, sleet and standing water, I feel that once again I have to remark what absolutely excellent all-round tyres the PS4Ss are.

I see some poor bugger was killed by a tree falling on his car near Micheldever. Little close for comfort given my mother is currently staying just a couple of miles away with an aunt of mine.

Slight damage to an outbuilding roof that'll need a new roofing sheet, loads of standing water everywhere, but most seriously of all the telephone and broadband went down mid afternoon on Sunday and is still off. BT say that the line is down and it will take until Thursday to repair it. Thank goodness for a decent-ish 4G service and a mobile hotspot on one's phone. Although my data allowance is being used rather quickly.
Today we had sleet and snow in the afternoon. Am expecting it to be raining frogs or maybe blood by tomorrow.

We live overlooking the Colne Valley and it has been terrible down there with people losing everything with the floods.

The in-laws have had part of a tree go through the garage roof, causing damage to the Honda. The Volvo remains unscathed.

Storm Dennis is now apparently on its way. I am at Manchester awaiting arrival of my father and the drive down was unpleasant. The snow was fine. The B6278 had road closed signs on it from this morning but was perfectly passable. It irritates me when the council don't bother to remove the signs. Most people in 4x4s were ignoring them in any case.
The gale force winds on the M6 were deeply nasty and I'm not looking forward to the trip back with heavy snow forecast.

We had flurries of snow earlier but nothing stuck. I can see the Dales and Moors have some snow, however. I'm meant to be in Birmingham tomorrow which is a severe inconvenience but at least things look like they will have settled down for then.

I didn't really have any snow related issues at home but getting there was slightly different. It started snowing heavy wet flakes just after I left work and on the way down the road they gradually stuck to the front of the car including the headlights! So after a while I was driving into heavy snow which is a weird effect anyway, barely able to see the lights of the car in front due to the snow smearing on the upstroke of the wipers and additionally not getting much benefit from the lights as the only clear bit on them was immediately ahead of the bulb so there was no spread to the beam. Of course there was nowhere to pull over safely either!
When I got onto the side road near the house and put the full beam on it made no difference because there was a couple of inches of hard packed snow on that part of the lens. I've never had that before!

That's another reason I don't have LED lights on the Defender. The H4s melt the snow!
