Ah, excellent news about your 440i being pre-OPF. As you say it gives you the option of MPPSK, and it sounds better as standard as well. Imo, OPF B58-engined cars are less impacted than others in terms of noise quality, but its just best not to have one at all! Watch out Martin, you seem to have competition in the BMW anorak stakes. Sav has me beaten easily!

That's a good spec. The interesting aspect (for me) is that your 440i doesn't have the adaptive suspension whereas mine does (apparently it's not a commonly-chosen option). As such, I shall be curious to see what you think of the standard ride. Mine is pretty good in the Comfort setting whereas the Sport setting, whilst having its time and place, would be too much if you had to put up with it all the time. Adaptive is a pretty rare thing I found when searching and was something I was a little concerned about before driving an LCI 4 series. The ride on my E92 was very unforgiving - I have many a grate, bump and slightly crumbled section of road imprinted on my brain even after 2 years of selling the E92. But the 4's that I've driven are night & day in comparison. I've only done a relatively short (mainly motorway) distance in my car but it does seem to ride pretty well and is definitely as good as the Alfa on the motorway. The real test will be on the daily commute when I start using the car every day. I'll let you know.

Lovely car Mark and a great colour: very close to Marina Bay Blue. I use the Dr Leather dye block on mine too (Smoked white merino) and it works very well. If you gently clean it every 5 or 6 months with the Dr Leather wipes and then put the dye block on it should work really well. I really enjoyed my 4 series coupe and I am sure you will too, especially with the 3 litre straight 6 and before they consign us all to bikes and public transport. Thanks John! There is a tiny, tiny bit of wear on a bit of the piping on the drivers seat which I might look into getting some leather dye from somewhere to rectify it - but it really is very small. I must catch up on your switch to the M5 which I'm sure is in here somewhere. I bet that is a monster!!

My 4 series showed a small amount of wear on the outer bolster after 4 and a bit years - I must have rubbed it every time i got in and out but it wasn't bad at all - that probably just backs up what the previous owners said about finding it a bit difficult to get in and out of at their years advanced. I picked my car up on 6th April last year and it is a monster in all the right ways.

Yes, there's a bit of wear on the outer bolster in my car too (and that's merely the standard rhino-hide saddle leather) - I keep at it with leather feed and wipes and that seems to keep it (and colour transfer) at bay.

I think the side bolster on my 320 is in almost original nick after 116k miles. Perhaps I'm more agile than the rest of you
