Always liked the S8, but it's almost 3 years old, so £50k seems a lot to me despite the low mileage. Just had a quick look on Autotrader and a slightly newer standard S8 (not exactly slow) from a main dealer can be had for £37k. That's more like it.
Unsurprisingly, for the price of the plum S8, I'd have an M760Li....V12 engine, better equipped and more modern.

£50k does still seem a lot. 50% of original value after 3 years - sounds rather OTT. For me a 2 year old XJR575 at £40k ish makes a lot more sense. Although sense is a relative word there - it'll still depreciate like a stone for a few more years.

Loved the first gen S8 and the one with the V10 but can't really get excited about the new ones. Love the colour. Good shout on the XJR Pete.

Like for like is about £10k more. Well worth it for all the additional equipment, the M760 gets most 7 series options as standard. |

The Flying Spur does seem "reasonable", however I do wonder about running costs and insurance ! |

You remind me of the friend of ours who owns a lovely Silver Shadow II which no doubt costs her an arm and a leg to keep in good running order. I once made the mistake of complaining about the running costs of the M5 in front of her only to be promptly told that "if you need to think about the running costs, then it's not the right car for you"...which is another way of saying "if you need to ask, you can't afford it"...

A Silver Shadow is a bottomless money pit, but still worth it IMHO!
