Wuhan flue as it appears to being called in some of the press - can you believe that the WHO have not even got a name for it yet, how inefficient - does actually appear to be spreading and there have been the first cases in Japan and Germany of people contracting the disease after meeting people from China who had no visible symptoms. The German man is an employee of Webasto who met a Chinese colleague who flew into Germany from Shanghai. I suspect that the infection rate and spread is far higher than the Chinese are admitting. It's probably been in circulation since December at least.
So, maybe this is more serious? Although nobody seems quite sure what the death rate actually is yet and nobody is actually saying how bad the disease is for an otherwise healthy individual.
I'm pretty torn as well about whether nations should be flying individuals home. If it is serious, do you want to fly a few hundred people who might have been exposed back into your home country? Even with quarantine, it would mean that not only the passengers, but the crew had to be quarantined (unless they all wear full hasmat gear the whole time I suppose). In war torn places, you send the armed forces in to evacuate people.

WuFlu is similar to Flu in the sense that you are infectious before you display symptoms. Hence the worry.
I think the death rate for normal flu is very low - something like 0.1% of people who display symptoms go on to die.
With WuFlu it seems that nobody knows what it actually is because nobody knows how many people are infected versus how many have died. But it seems to be well above 0.1%.

Even the virus's are made in China these days. Whatever happened to a good old British consumption epidemic, or a cholera epidemic. Hopefully Brexit will get us back our proper British diseases.

Just seen this online - it may highlight some of the issues..... Surely not! I know there are jokes about sheep but it can't be such a problem that the WHO add it to a poster. Can it?

A friend who was posted in Afghanistan swore blind that when the military were monitoring activity in the remote villages at night using various imaging systems that enabled them to see what was going on under the cover of darkness, it was remarkable just how often they spotted men outside the confines of the village who were pleasuring themselves with a farmyard animal such as a goat or sheep.

We're all fucked. Thank God I'm not working in China anymore. I bet you're glad. I've only been to China once - on a business trip to Shaghai in 2007 - and I just could not see the appeal of the place.

A friend in the village is always over there to visit his flooring manufacturing place. He isn't a massive fan, but is used to going now.

Cases found in Germany and Japan in people who've not been anywhere in China.
I once got told a story by a bloke I worked with who was working in the middle east and got waved onto a site by a security bloke in a gatehouse who was fucking a goat at the time of his arrival.

Going back to that poster; are they saying that protected sex is OK? And what is the blue animal? An owl? A bat?

That poster is all kinds of wrong. I've been involved with foaling, lambing and calving and have never felt the attraction for an animal fanny. 🤮

I worked for a company once who had a nightwatchman that dressed up as a woman on his shift, all the gear as well, much to our MD's shock when he dropped in one night. We never had any break ins though so he/she did their job and we left well alone. Well I think HR just didn't have a PowerPoint that covered the situation.

There is a commercial vehicle insurance assessor that dresses up as a woman full time. I got a little bit of a shock when he/she came to inspect the horsebox a few years ago.
My neighbour pranged his motor home at the back end of last year and she came to inspect that, much to my amusement.

Apparantly, Wuhan is the location of China's main virology lab where they've been studying the likes of avian flu etc

I was thinking more like the opening credits of The Simpsons where Homer gets a rod of uranium stuck in his shirt and slings it out of the car.. Two chinese workers on train home from work"What's that vial thing hanging out of your pocket?" "Oh just some crap from work" tosses vial on floor of station
