Somehow the glass keeps breaking, apparently.....

Lined up perfectly for a LEGO/Tonka model.

It's certainly a different take on a pick-up truck. Musk certainly knows how to draw attention to Tesla.

That is an abomination to my eyes. Have they run out of money for designers? I reckon it could be just as popular as its De'Lorean cousin.

Umm I think I drew something like that in my maths book when I was about 8...
Like an Alfa Carabo mated with a Tonka toy and then auditioned for a part in Moonraker.

150,000 orders so far, worth over $8 billion. Without any advertising or paid endorsements.

This is a concept but they claim it’s not far from production. I’d be interested to see how close they can get. They certainly know how to grab the headlines.

That’s um a lot. It really is. The F-150 is a hallowed vehicle here and I can see why. Where I live, people use them for everything- work, play, commuting, driving into forests, towing boats and carrying ATVs, the deer you just shot, lumber... Getting people interested in this truck is a big thing for Tesla. Range anxiety is it’s biggest enemy at the moment and the 500 mile version will probably sell well for that reason. Personally, I still don’t get the Tesla thing completely. I’m more favourable towards them than I was a year ago, but still wouldn’t consider one as an everyday vehicle. I could see them producing the trucks in large numbers, they’re well ahead of other manufacturers when it comes to designing and implementing new production lines, despite previous press stories. But it’s a hideous looking vehicle...

With regard to the Tesla truck - I wonder how much form follows function? The hardness of the stainless steel required to give it the bullet resistance will make it very difficult to form in traditional body panel presses - my experience of these hard steels suggests nigh on impossible for the price they're looking to charge. It will have to be folded, and fairly simple folds at that, to achieve any sort of consistency for simple manufacture. The same is probably the case for the glass - I suspect it'll be flat, with multiple laminations.

Musk has said that the concept isn't far from the the production car look but I'm not sure how that can be the case. My first assumption is that it isn't for export as regulations are a bit more relaxed for trucks in the US, so pedestrian impact stuff is set aside. I agree that the forming of the bodywork is going to present a few challenges as well.

I hadn't realised it was going to be bulletproof. Is that so the Good 'Ol Boys can merrily shoot at each other in them thar hills? I think there are a large number of (white) Americans who believe that society will break down in the US very shortly and they need to be prepared with a pick-up, extensive armoury, survival rations and a "bug out bag", enabling them to take to the hills and defend their bit of America from the zombie hordes. They will buy into this truck big style. Especially if they can rig a windmill or solar panels to recharge it off grid.

Ah, excellent.
I presume that initially the pickup will be kept in a garage integral to their underground survival bunker?

I just showed a picture of this to my other half who has no interest in cars at all. She asked if it was solar powered on seeing it which is probably a mark or success for Tesla.
