I know there are few on here with an interest in farm machinery and who doesn't like a big shiny tractor, so here a few pics from the Agritechinca show in Hanover, where I was last week. It is the largest machinery show in the world an is VAST. In three days you would struggle to do the whole show if you wanted to see some detail. I was on our stand for most of the time, but had a few quick runs through some of the halls:

Tractors are also becoming much bigger, as the move is towards one man and one machine to cover vast acreages in a day:

















The trend towards greater automation continues, with GPS mapping and auto-steer being commonplace in the larger tractors:





The next Big Thing is going to be driver-less autonomous tractors, with several manufacturers showing off prototypes and talking about being ready to take orders soon:




We are experimenting with our own autonomous machine, but this has the option for use either by a driver, or without, which I think is the way forward:





Talking to some people from the Harper Adams 'Hands Free Hectare' project they agree that a machine which provides both options is the way forward.
