Just got an email through for a new 118i.
No deposit (retailer and loyalty contribution of £4122) then 47 payments of £299/mth. Finance at 4.9% apr and a final balloon of £10,314 if you want it. 8,000 miles p.a.
Not too bad on the value front.

I suppose these generous offers are necessary now because otherwise you could buy a Kia for £000s less and just slap some BMW badges on and nobody would be able to tell.

Both previous generations of 1-series were challenging-looking but unconventional and intriguing with it, and offered something a bit different.
This is just challenging-looking and utterly conventional. I have absolutely no desire for one in any flavour.

Until they launch a 4wd 1M version with box arches and 450bhp, I'm out.

I saw and had a poke around a new 1-series in the dealership when mine was getting serviced and it was OK really - especially the M140i I think it was. It was certainly bigger in the back and in the boot and, albeit looked a bit like a Focus, it looked like a very nice Focus, qualitywise. I wasn't keen on the last 1-Series until I drove one for a bit, especially the narrow front doors, but it did grow on me.

"Ok really".
Sums it up.
