Thread posted early as I'll be away for the next 2 week-ends. Don't forget that Alonso won't be racing and Button should be taking his place.

Ah yes, either of them should score loads of points I'm supposed to be watching the race in the country club motor house with champagne and canapés to makes us feel like we're guests in the paddock.

I see that Honda are bringing more updates to Monaco so fingers crossed that the power is up and the reliability sorted. It would be good to see Button do better than Quali 3 and 15th. Does anyone know if it's live on council telly?

No, freeview is council telly, surely anything you have to pay for isn't.

Depends if you're looking at Council Telly as being that which is provided free-to-air or that which prevails in social housing estates.
We got Virgin TV this year on the basis that they have been desperate for me to upgrade from Broadband only since 2009 when I moved back up to Wimbledon so they finally got the right idea and gave me a 2 year deal at £30/month which was less than my Broadband-only deal.
Don't watch enough TV to warrant it really but the kids like it.

My concern is what happens after the 2018 season when Sky will have no competition. Apparently there was a plan to have a free to air channel for F1 but no live races, just highlights. I suppose it might be possible cherry pick particular race weekends and view via now tv but I do not KNOW what the form will be yet.
Happy to see JB reasonably competitive with only a brief spell behind the wheel. What does this say for Van D that he is only a few hundredths ahead of JB and he has had five race weekends plus the tests pre season. Not that testing amounted to much other than the quality of comestibles in the McLaren system.

Just a heads up, Sky Sports F1 will now show the remainder of the Porsche Supercup season live. If you want to hear some yummy-sounding NA screamers before the F1 race, this is ideal!

Well, Kimi looked overjoyed to be on the podium in Monaco. Absolutely happy. Did you see him merrily splashing champagne all over Seb?
No me neither.
It was the right thing to do: Lewis has dropped a lot of points and Seb is leading the championship race but Kimi pitted on time when Ferrari know how good their tyres are and staying out five laps effectively gave Seb the race. On reflection I think he had a speed advantage over Kimi as the first set were coming to life end but it was pretty much an engineered result. Great for the team and the likelihood of a Ferrari World Champion increases but Kimi was pissed right off. That said his performances in the car earlier in the season are what have put Seb in the position he's in so Kimi should also be ruing the races he hasn't done well in either qualifying or race.
Forza Ferrari all the same.

I agree with all of that, but still feel it's a shame that someone at Ferrari didn't still engineer the win for Kimi as it would probably have been the preferred result for the vast majority of (even Ferrari) fans.
Certainly makes the next couple of races more interesting as I expect Hamilton to be fully wound up, and for Kimi to be in no mood to do his team-mate any favours.

It was a shame to see Kimi lose the lead, but I'm not convinced it was engineered - he simply wasn't as quick as Vettel either side of the pitstops, and hadn't pulled enough of a gap beforehand to give himself a margin.
JB did bloody well to make Q3 on Saturday. I wish they'd come up with a better solution to the grid penalty system though. While he hardly covered himself in glory by launching Princess Pascal headfirst into the barrier, he shouldn't have been back there in the first place.
