Can't see the new one being much less than £55K and I'm not convinced some of the sharp styling lines work as well as the current shape.

Prefer the looks, but have never seen the point over a fast estate or hatch myself. That isn't round-the-houses criticism of Mr P's car, btw.

Having been treated to a brief passenger ride in Simon's RSQ3 a few weeks ago, I can confirm that it is a really intriguing and entertaining oddball of car. I wonder if the new one, being on the MQB platform might be just a bit too good and lose some of that quirky character. At least it remains a 5 pot, which sounded utterly awesome in Simon's car.

There's a surprising number of metalwork changes between the normal RS Q3 and the Sportback version - doors in particular but also looks like the rear wing changes at the point it joins the larger spoiler below the rear window.
Anyway I thought this thread was going to be about 1,500+ BHP hypercars........

I saw a Q7 the other day that had been slammed on the floor. What is the point in that? I thought people only bought Q7s for the high driving position to lord it over the paupers?

I have been officially converted to the pointfulness of this car. Everyone on the Forum needs a go in Simon's version! The new one - yes please. It could certainly stake a valid claim to a space in a 4-car garage...

Looking again at the photos, it really has lost out on most of the subtlety of the current car, which is a shame. A "Subtlety Styling Package" would be a useful option.

It been a weirdly understated launch. It wasn't present at the Frankfurt Show, yet was announced just a few weeks later and now there are cars on dealer forecourts without any press reviews being published... This, for the potential owner, is good news. Nobody - car-stealing, house-burgling bastards in particular - will know of it. This means it's under the radar, like the previous car and, hopefully, means it remains untouched, whilst every RS3 is at high risk of being stolen and used in crime sprees. Buy one and still sleep soundly.

Talking of press jaunts, have a look for the Carfection video with the new RS6. If it was on Top Gear we'd all be saying how brilliant it was in the telly thread. It’s good ,and the rs6 looks great .

I like the fact that it retains the five-pot. Sort of occupies its own place in the market as well, Mercedes hasn't yet committed to making another GLA 45. And BMW's X2 35i doesn't compete at the same level, and they won't be making a full-fat X2 M.

^ I'd have thought that the new Juke and X2 were not exactly competitors. Surely the X2 is somewhat larger and more expensive, both to buy and to run?

I never implied they were competitors, just the difference between what I think she should get and what she thinks she wants. Hopefully I'll win! I’m not putting any money on that!

I think I'm managing to talk her into going for an auto this time and just need to ram it home that an auto box in something German will be miles better than in a jacked up Micra. Surely a Juke will be a CVT, won't it? Wish me luck! I doubt the Juke has a CVT. it’ll have the same dual clutch gearbox as in the Qashqai, which is very good.
