This weeks rental was supposed to be another compact, but Enterprise didn’t have one and gave me an upgrade to a Nissan Frontier. It’s a small pickup, twin cab with probably a 4-5’ bed in the back- think Ford Ranger for similar size.
Impressions:
The truck is agricultural, has no frippery gayness except for a Bluetooth stereo. The lights are manual, the seats are polyester, the steering wheel is sticky plastic, the inside is dirty- They didn’t clean it, despite telling me they did.
What’s it like to drive? It’s torquey. It likes to move and empty, it hits and stays at 80mph with little effort. The engine, which I think is a V6, revs easily and sounds good. Off road, it has plenty of clearance and seems to cope well, though I couldn’t get the wheels to spin on dirt in rwd mode.
Verdict? Not a truck I’d choose, but the best Nissan I’ve driven this month, out of the Rogue Sport, Sentra and Frontier. Certainly fun, the fuel light came on at 271 miles so I’m not sure how thirsty it is yet- I’ve to fill up tomorrow morning.
Hopefully it’s a step closer to me getting a decent Nissan as a rental. Fingers crossed for a GT-R or a 370Z...

That you feel an agricultural pick up is the best out of the other Nissans isn't really a positive thing for Nissan!

Time for a special edition called the "Davey Crockett" ??
... or a "Star Trek" run-out edition ??

That you feel an agricultural pick up is the best out of the other Nissans isn't really a positive thing for Nissan! Maybe I should have phrased it differently. It’s the most fit for purpose one I’ve driven. It also averaged around 17mpg (US) so it’s not the thirstiest pick up out there.
