To ask if they can keep a car for several days?
An email from the latest garage suggesting they would like to keep the car for several days but no suggestion why.
Strikes me as a bit odd tbh.

It is certainly reasonable to ask why and to expect a proper answer.

Thanks, what I intend to do when they open, just thought I would ask in case it is how things are 'done' now. I wondered if they might overbook in case of cancelation.

Happens to us sometimes, either overbooked or have a few carry overs from the previous day and if you can accommodate their request it means they can focus on the carry overs and get on to yours later.

It's not usual..... I usually ask when making a booking how long the garage will need the car.
I think the worst I have had is when the Galaxy failed its last MoT in my hands and needed new rear brake lines (so the garage said). Was about 5 days to get the parts not helped by it being between Christmas and New Year with many suppliers on shutdown.
It's certainly not polite of them to have given you no reason; you are owed an explanation if nothing else.

I've had it once when they were investigating a cold starting issue - they kept it overnight in their compound to try the next day. They should give an explanation though.
