A sad loss today in the F2 race. Simply tragic. I had hoped, while knowing the danger, that we had seen the last death in motor sport.

It's never a safe sport, we've been lucky that drivers have been walking away from some spectacular crashes in recent years but the danger is very real.
RIP Anthoine

There will always be the freak accidents that you can't legislate against. Motorsport is hugely safe when you consider the speeds involved and if you think about some of the recent accidents that drivers have walked away from (the Floersche crash being one) be thankful horrible incidents like Saturdays are now very rare.
