"New Wheels Arrived"
The rest of the car is rather nice too.

Not bad.
That ML/GL/who knows what Merc 4x4 it is in the background of the first picture looks crap - the chrome trim line stops at the back door while the roof rail goes further back. It makes me think someone's boarded up a smashed rear window and used black tape round the edge!

That does look pretty smart, just a bit too much chrome for me, especially at the front and rear.
Agree with Tim in the chrome, it looks terrible.

Nice. There's nothing like a T-wagen to make you drive in a relaxed manner.

Doesn't the current E Class have an all new engine, which has another 15 or so horses, but similar torque?

Very smart. Is that a similar colour to my Carbon Black - ie an exceptionally dark midnight blue?
The only thing I will never like about the most recent E-classes is the adoption of the SL-style grille. An E-class should have a proper M-B radiator shell as per the S-Class and indeed as per continental European versions of the E-Class.

That is very smart
I was in Frankfurt yesterday and I had a new base spec e-class on the drive from the airport and the current s-class on the return.
Even in base taxi spec, the new e-class interior is very pleasant. I think the basic nav pack + analogue dials combination looks terrific, Merc have found a way of filling the void left by the two 12.3 inch screens without it looking cheap.
The engine note was not unpleasant either - big improvement vs the diesel 4 banger in the prior e-class.
If you don't mind me asking - what deal did you get ?

Very smart. Our neighbour is very impressed with his new E220d saloon. He says it is far quicker, more frugal and way quieter than the old E220d he had. He has the same dash combo - analogies plus satnav screen and it does look smart. I much prefer your colour though - that suits it. The dark grey he has does not suit the shape - although that could be also as the estate is better looking than the saloon.

I like the look of that. At first glance I thought it was a C Class but it is certainly one of the smarter looking wagons and the interior is a lovely place to sit.

Nice, it will be interesting to note how you find the performance - I followed a badly driven CLS220d wagon the other week on a county road, when we got onto the dual carriageway it was very easy to keep pace with him despite it clearly being nailed (although unlike him I did pay deference somewhat to the prevailing speed limit...). Had a look at the spec and was surprised to discover it had 20bhp more than the DS4 but the same torques and was clearly heavier - the DS4 is rapid (for a diesel hatch) but i did wonder if the 220d engine would feel a touch undernourished in a larger car. Like Martin said, it's got the newer engine and seems to move swiftly enough - feels significantly quicker than my old man's year old saloon anyway.

Possibly, looks quite a flat deep blue in overcast light, but you can really see the metallic in sunlight.

Not at all. £345+ the robber baron's share, but I only but 3 down and 12k miles a year.

That's nice. I was picked up in one at Manchester airport the other week and was very impressed. It had that feeling of isolating the outside world that a big Mercedes can do so well. It's top of the list when the Audi lease is up.
