2003 320d M Sport automatic. 144k, FSH up to 139k. Cruise, parking sensors, moo, Business stereo with tape deck and 8 disc changer (sweeeeeeeet).
Needs some cosmetic work, but nothing I can't handle and take my time with. Crucially, it doesn't rattle or knock, drives brilliantly and I don't have to change gears myself any more. And, the best bit - no DPF. Swirl flaps are getting binned off as soon as I get back off holiday next weekend.

Welcome to the dark side! Looks in decent condition, hope it turns out to be a good buy.

Really? My mate's one nearly always has something wrong with it. Mostly little things like sensors but he had to have all the shocks replaced the other day after it flunked its MOT again.

Brilliant cars, a high water mark for the 3 series. I still miss the 325 compact.

What's going to happen to the SAAB? How much to tax and what's it worth?

Saab is getting sold once I get back off holiday, probably worth about £1000. Tax was £18 per month.

Slightly surprised that you have gone for a BMW? I do think it's an excellent choice, my friend had a lovely version. Iirc, he had the front wings replaced and a bit of corrosion on the sills repaired. Is that the issues you have?

Corrosion on one rear arch and a few scrapes. Luckily, my neighbour is a time served Bentley paint shop bod and he's going to sort me out.
I went for a BMW as I wanted something with a renowned auto box.

Fair enough, I’m going auto when I get my Ioniq in a couple of weeks and I’m not going to miss a manual with the sort of driving I do these days.

I thought you were getting a Niro? confused.com, Scotland.

Niro was a test drive and the missis didn’t like it. She wanted something more car like not an suv. She also doesn’t like the idea of an auto but there’s little I can do about that given that my choices were mostly hybrids this time round.

Nice one Blarno. Enjoy the 3er. Agree with Andy about those tints though...

Blarno - loving your choice mate. E46 is my favourite 3-series. and only marginally beaten by the E39 in 'want one' factor.

The trouble with both is that there are now quite a lot of grotty ones about that haven’t been loved. The E36 went the same way and you’re now mostly left with just the good ones. But when theyre good they really are good cars and Blarno’s looks quite a tidy example from the pictures, albeit with a few minor corrosion issues but with the planned maintenance jobs in hand it should be able to get up to a good standard and do justice to the E46 reputation. Sounds like there’s some tinkering required but I don’t imagine Blarno would have it any other way!

Just did a VIN check and the spec list is pretty huge. Someone went all out when it was new. It has Bluetooth, albeit a 15 year old system that doesn't seem to like my modern smartphone. Shame.

I sadly lost all my tapes when I bought my first house nearly 12 years ago! They were buried somewhere behind the fireplace.
It has a 6cd changer in the boot so all is not lost.

Soft close doors? How how easy are the wind deflectors (if that’s what they’re called?) to remove, They’re up there with mudflats as a blight upon a car.

I've not even looked at how the wind deflectors are fitted yet, they don't cause me any bother, although things may change.

Hmm . . . factory-fitted mudflaps (if that's what they are!) on mine, and I fitted the wind deflectors of my own volition! I've not even looked at how the wind deflectors are fitted yet, they don't cause me any bother, although things may change. Mine are Heko, but I imagine most are the same; couple of tape strips and 2 or 3 square-u shaped metal clips inside the window channel. Not difficult to remove, should one so wish.

A 6 CD changer in the boot? That brings back happy memories of my TT (if only I still had that hair salon). Car looks good, especially the wheels, and once you've gone auto it's difficult to go back. I don't mind tints, especially factory ones, on the back of Tourings as it keeps that area much cooler for the dogs. The roof rails come in hand too.

Hang on - isn't this a German car? How come the styling is understated?

I've just been loading the back of the car for our holiday, it's baking hot outside and the inside of the car is nice and cool. Tints are a win in this situation.

I'd be removing this wind deflectors, too. I don't really see the point if you've got air-con? I've always assumed they were for smokers.
