'Released' a car after it has already sold out. Great bit of marketing that.
How much was it? The price wasn't 'released' alongside the unavailable car. Not much point when you can't buy one, though...

Lawks, get the grumpy old men...
Not sure about the pod, but I'd have a Mono over the competition if I were in the market for such a thing.

Looks good. It's a toy for the very wealthy so I guess they can price it as such.

Why they do what they do is their business, as long as my mortgage gets paid I'm happy.
This new body style serves as the base for the proper next gen model. The R is kind of a prequel, if you will.

I really like the Mono, even more so as it British built. I think it’s expensive, but I’m not at the multiple toy end of the market, which thinks it’s priced right, otherwise it wouldn’t have sold out.

Out of my price range but if I were a Euro millions winner I could find space in my garage for one of these. I have always liked the single minded design approach of the Mono.

Really like the look of that. The new design is good - a neat evolution of an already minimalist design. 30 cars, all sold. Happy days.
How many have been built and how long will it take to fulfil the 30 orders?

So far, that is the only one built, but is only a display car so not representative of the final thing. First customer car should be delivered before the end of the year.

Good idea to follow the Porsche design ideology of evolution not revolution.

Good idea to follow the Porsche design ideology of evolution not revolution. It also means your designers need only work Monday to Tuesday and take the rest of the week off.

Good idea to follow the Porsche design ideology of evolution not revolution. Does it take them 6 months to build one car, too?

I will never have one of these but, I applaud the production and letting loose of them into the wild. A very laudable and marvelous thing. Otherwise we would be talking about the latest three speed assisted bicycle........ Shudders.

I love pretty much everything about the car, but I really cannot get my head around the pricing of all Monos. What drives such a high price point, Blarno? Sadly it's well out of my price range, even with the most creative man-maths I can muster.

Can't help thinking this is just an apology to those rich people with no friends who've been patiently waiting years for their standard car to be built.
"Give us some more of your money and we'll make your car faster and more exclusive"
They still have to wait until at least Christmas for it, though.

What drives such a high price point Because they can. Additionally it’s a professional outfit with the healthy profit margins to invest in the costly development required to keep the car relevant but also the facilities and workforce, giving the whole endeavour a chance of a long term future.

Pricing is beyond me, but they charge what people can afford and are willing to pay. The majority of our customers are multi millionaires, some are billionaires. In recent years, the 'basic' Mono has all but disappeared - more and more customers are chooing the bespoke options such as custom paint, carbon wheels and the made to measure seat and steering wheel, which drives the price up. There are only a handful of what I would call a standard Mono around and even then I would struggle to find 2 that are identical.
The bill of material price for even a basic unadorned Mono is higher than you think (Obviously I can't divulge..) because so many parts are custom made and made to a high standard. It's a relatively small and mechanically simple car, but the sheer number of different bespoke/machined/made to order parts is staggering and because of the low volumes we build in, the price is noticeably higher than if we were building 100+ a year. What's more baffling is that I know each and every one of these parts, where they live on the car, who manufactures them, and in some cases, what they weigh or cost. From memory. This from a man who struggles to recall what he ate for his tea the night before...
As long as they continue to sell, my mortgage gets paid, my kids have food in their bellies and clothes on their backs and I occasionally get to meet some interesting and/or famous people.

I don't follow the same weight saving measures that BAC do, so the answer is a lot and as many as possible without them falling off the plate and spilling gravy onto my crotch.

It sounds almost like a Rolls-Royce now but the other way (less is more?). Viewed in that sense the price is probably worth it.

Wasn't the original based on a F3 chassis? I seem to recall that a basic rolling chassis for modern F3 is around £90,000. Add in theat special cosworth engine, bespoke gearbox, carbon wishbones, bodywork etc and I'd be surprised if the cost price is less than £125,000 for a basic one.
