I took the M5 up to St Andrews on Saturday morning and managed a surprising 34mpg with plenty of 40 ish mpg whilst on light throttle sitting at 50 to 60mph on the A roads.
On the way back there is a corner on the motorway where one motorway joins another, which has warnings to slow down. Historically I would probably go round the corner at about 60mph which gets a good bit of body roll and feels fast enough with the family onboard. This time I found myself going round the corner at 70mph with the feeling that the car had loads in reserve. The Ford Ranger who had been trying to hassle me for the half mile before suddenly disappeared!

That's pretty impressive economy.
I assume you mean the corner a few miles after the Kincardine/Clacks Bridges?

Have you ever tried it from the other side - if you were going from Edinburgh to, say, Alloa. It's good fun there too although its just a left hander rather then the right left combo.

It is, it's similar to the exit from the M9 onto the M90 after Newbridge.

They seem to be one of the few places you can have some fun these days!

Brings to mind a Q5 who was doing the same to me, but ended up in the wrong lane trying to keep up around the ensuing corner.

Economy average is 21.8mpg at the moment with lots of shorter journeys but it impresses most when the speed increases a bit and the road twists and turns - the chassis just absorbs everything in such an accomplished manner. I even kept the car totally in the tighter right hand lane on the slip road and it was just asking for more throttle and more speed. It's massively capable.
