You know when you buy a spicy whatever from a supermarket they have the chilli sign on it, 1 chilli is mild, 3 chillies is hot? I had a curry earlier from Waitrose that had 5 chillies on it. Bloody hell! Made me nose run a bit! I've never seen more than 3 chillis on ready meal packaging. Vaguely connected.... why is Google celebrating Nasi Lemak today on its search web page?

Can't see an obvious reason. It's not Malaysia's national day today for example.

Well that was a long haul..... been paid at last for January. We were paid very early in December, first time in over a decade that I was paid before Christmas for December so it's been the thick end of 6 weeks between pay days. Only 4 weeks until the next one !

Random question for ChrisM. How many punctures did you have in 2018?
Just remembered that I saw someone changing a tyre in pretty awful weather yesterday, which made me thankful for RFTs, but also wonder how Chris has been getting on!

A grand total of zero.... but younger daughter has already had one this year resulting in a new tyre for the A1 to replace one of those I bought her last year. Two bolts/screws through the tread and apparently only one repair per tyre is permitted. After 3 punctures within 9000 miles and 20 months in the Ka, I think I am due a break for the rest of my life !

I've had at least one puncture in every car I've owned and been in several others as a passenger that have had one, so I reckon Chris and I are taking several for the team!
Also not looking forward to the next one as my car doesn't have a spare tyre...

^ My brother ha also had a puncture this year resulting in a new tyre being needed.... in fact he took the opportunity to have both front tyres on his car renewed.
Daughter doesn't have a spare on her A1 either, but the RAC were very good in doing some sort of temporary fix to allow her to drive to a tyre place 2 days later (she hardly used the car in the meantime, she works from around 7am to 6pm 5 days a week so doesn't get much time to get things sorted when they go wrong)

Next you'll be telling us that she has to store her gloves in the boot....

I did warn her........ she'd have no idea how to change a flat tyre anyway (it's happened to her before) so she would have to call breakdown services in any event. Therefore it's not so critical for her to have a car with a spare wheel

^ She'd probably never notice if she had run-flats and had a puncture. The tyres on her A1 have liquorice-high sidewalls, even shallower than on my Fiesta

She’s probably more likely to notice, as there would be warning messages / bongs from the TPMS.

I walked out of our 5th floor office at lunchtime, onto the landing to see the lift doors open, no lift in sight and a workie leaning in and looking down. He wasn't clipped on to anything! I reckon if I'd walked up behind him and said 'boo' he would've gone down the liftshaft.

Yesterday on my way back from a supplier visit, I was passed (as were most vehicles on the M3) by a black Aventador that had an "ordinary" 18-plate. Nice

Very windy with strong gusts the past 2 mornings driving down the M3 to work..... and no artics around, or high-sided vehicles (well, just one artic this morning in fact). Is this a safety precaution or just coincidence, I wonder

Just had the annual "joyous event" of renewing the road tax on the Fiesta for the princely sum of zero pounds :-) I, very honourably, paid for a year's tax on the 107. All 20 quid of it. The Captur is zero and the VRS is £30. So three cars taxed for a year for only 3 quid more than the V60 cost per month!

^ Our Captur is £20 and I hope it doesn't get any sogtware update at its next service that affects its driveability. Seems that there are a number of Capturs getting an update that worsens their engine's real-world flexibility

Our Qashqai is zero road tax as well. It's a minor "win" in our tax happy society.
