My brothers new car. £200 deposit and £200 a month, 0% finance over 4 years. Hefty discount off lift from Sunderland SEAT.
He asked my advice and I suggested either this or a Fiesta.. I've not driven the latest Fiesta, but I've sat in one and I'd say the Ibiza interior just shades it for layout and quality. The new Fiesta is much improved over the old one though and there really isn't much in it.
The Ibiza looks great, especially in Desire Red, and it's very well specced as standard (nav, car play, front assist, LED lights) in fact the only option he picked was reverse sensors. It drives really nicely - the steering has no feel, but it grips well and feels very direct. If an Ibiza is still classed as a supermini, then it really doesn't feel it on the road; it's very refined when cruising, seats 4 adults comfortably, and the little 1.0 turbo is nigh on silent when sat at a steady speed. You could easily do a long journey in it comfortably. Being the FR with sports suspension, I did have concerns with the ride being too hard, but the majority of the time it's fine. Over some of the shit roads around here, it's probably on the border of being just comfortable enough (I wouldn't want it on
18s rather 17s put it that way)
The engine still only has 200 or so miles on it, and is already averaging over 50mpg. It doesn't feel slow either (he's keeping it under 3500rpm to run it in), but has plenty of low down shove and just shows how effective a little turbo can be.
Overall a brilliant little car. It's better than its VW cousin purely because its cheaper and looks much better imo.
I'd probably have looked at a Fiesta more seriously (he's not a petrolhead at all), but while that may handle slightly better and have better steering, I can't see it being as refined or as easy to live with on long journeys.
