The 320 needs some new fronts and while I'm happy with the 30k+ I've got from the Goodyear F1s I was interested to see that Kwik Fit are doing an offer on Michelin PS4s - £160 less 10% anda free dashcam offer! The Goodyears are £164 each. The only potential flies in the ointment are that the Michelins aren't runflats and that I'd have to source the rears (probably in a couple of months) from somewhere else as Kwikfit aren't doing them (plus there's a bewildering array of Michelins in the rear tyre size!).
Is it worth taking the risk with non runflats? I know the current ones have stood up to potholes pretty well and I'm worried that a normal tyre might just let go.

Is that why they are cheaper, because they aren't run flats? If you are happy with the Goodyears, stick with them, you know it makes sense.

I would stick with runflats. Can you get the Bridgestone S001? It really is a very good tyre and much better than the Goodyear or Pirelli alternatives.

I stuck with the Goodyears. I've never liked Bridgestones but I'm not quite sure why!

Agreed, I've got them on mine and will be replacing like for like. Slightly annoying that the PS4S is cheaper, but will be getting them for the Golf when the time comes to change.

I had non-RF Michelin Supersports on the M135i and it was never an issue.
Bridgestone S001s are what the 440i came with as standard. I've not had cause to take issue with them.

Surprised it's not Goodyears on offer, as they are now making a PS4/S rival.
I drive on some fairly dreadful roads, and have no issues, never did on the F1s either. The PS4S is, slightly worse secondary ride aside, a brilliant sporting tyre. I remains enamoured with grip and communication!

Aldi have got Linglong Supersports on offer until next Thursday.
Failing that I can echo the endorsements of the Bridgestone S001 tyres. I've been impressed with them over the last couple of thousand miles.

I'm not sure a 320d in xDrive spec actually needs a final few % of grip that the Bridgestones may offer over the Goodyears.

Can I hijack this thread?
I'm thinking of changing my name to Chris after the amount of punctures I recently had.
The Ducati had a double puncture a while back and on the basis that tyre was only good for 1000 miles I had them both plugged. Then I decided to sell it and hey presto: another puncture and a part worn tyre stepped into the breach to make the trade in.....
That was last Friday. This Friday on the new bike (see what I've called it from my avatar panel) another puncture. I put the Ducati punctures down to race spec Rosso Corsa Pirellis, and guess what: the new bike is on the Metzler Sportec K3 - a road race tyre made by..... Pirelli. FFS! The tyre was repaired but my tyre guy (been using the same mobile repair bloke for years) says it looks like it has been through a big heat cycle (i.e. on a track day and run at low PSI) plus I have no idea how long it's sat around for (low mileage bike; last service a year ago and 300 miles in that time. I get a free service in June though) so a new Metzler M5 is on order - same profile, different cut pattern and harder compound. The front K3 looks pretty well new so that stays: it gives me oodles of confidence and it has been rears that I pick up shitty bits of metal in.
Fucking tyres.....

I've just looked on Blackcircles and new S001 rears for the BMW are down to £233 each, about £40 less than when I last looked and £20 cheaper than the (narrower) fronts. They've got a fraction over 3.5mm left, so a bit early to change, hopefully the price will stay down. The Golf tyres are much cheaper, only £135 for a PS4S but it will be a quite a while before it needs a new set, I think it will get close to 30,000 from a set if I swap them around.

The K3 rears are about £170 plus fitting, so call it £220. The M5 rear I’ve gone with was £102 including a year of insurance against punctures plus I’ll pay to have it fitted.
Bike tyre fitting is arse: most places will do it for £20 but you have to remove the wheels and take them. So I pay more for the bloke to come and fit them and also do all the oily stuff too.
The PS4Ss for the Gorilla were £900 fitted.

I can feel a clear difference with the new Goodyears. Not only is the steering lighter the ride quality is better, there's less 'chatter' over small bumps. The rears are at 4mm. Not bad for about 35k miles.

Hmmm now the Micra has a slow puncture dammit. At least the tyres should be fairly cheap if it isn't repairable.
