Never forgotten. Always a slightly melancholy couple of days for me. The tragedies at Imola '94 were the first huge shocks of my life.

Will never forget it - I knew he was dead from the off, it just looked so wrong.

That is a weekend I just wish I could forget sometimes. Three major shunts and two fatalities, when I look at those bloody horrible bits of scaffold on the cars I am reminded of the injury to Felipe Massa and his car spearing head on into the barrier. I thought he was done at the time.

Will never forget it - I knew he was dead from the off, it just looked so wrong. It was a relatively innocuous accident and even back then we had become used to seeing the drivers jumping out of the car and looking disgusted. One that looked far worse was Gerhard Berger's fiery crash in the Ferrari 5 years earlier yet he was driving again a couple of races later.

Sorry - poor choice of word. I meant that he looked so 'wrong'.

I know what you meant. There was no movement, even when they've crashed and are talking on the radio they still move their head a bit.

I was at a BBQ, pissed, and completely missed the whole event. I remember turning on the TV the following day and the realization of what had happened suddenly dawning on me.

I was too young for this, but I read the Autocar issue after the event, and knew it was pretty major.
It definitely changed F1 from that moment on.
