Sadly not, a bit too far to go.
Looking for somewhere a bit nearer.

I went round to see the nearest guy. A suggestion that I budget for £500. I suppose the whole rolling road bit is the killer.

Why do you need the rolling road?
Do the carbs not come suitably jetted for the engine? If so I would seek out someone with a keen ear who can fine tune them for you - no need for the rolling road.

Finding someone who WILL work with carbs is impossible so far, I would rather not have the rolling road but the one person so far who will touch the job will not do it without. Rack and hard place come to mind.

Rack and hard place come to mind. Drive to Scotland and I will take you to a man who can make carbs sing! 15 to 20 mins with his ear and a screwdriver and you would have perfectly balanced fuelling.

Well I have got nothing else, one called Volkswrecks (Confidence inspiring?) is listed as permanently closed by google. Now that I have both carbs working together it might be worth a longer trip but the new carbs need to be installed before setup. I have to say I am quite excited at new carbs and a happier Bess. If I could I would take you up on that. A good excuse for a road trip. Where is this guy?
I am looking into refurbishing the carbs and the original setup so that when I am done, Griff can put the car back to original if he wants. I know it sounds morbid but it is important to me that Bess is kept going for as long as possible, maybe even being in the vintage Brighton run some day. I watched a bike show episode recently where the team took some hundred year old bikes to Brighton. What that is like just gives a huge buzz. Or something.
Have a good weekend folks.
